Job Description –Design Consultant -Hyper scale datacenter
Location: Doha, Qatar (Hybrid – Office/Site/Client Meetings)
Reports to: Technical Director – Hyperscale Projects

Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership (60%)
- Lead electrical design from 33kV utility interface through MV/HV switchgear, UPS systems (20-100MVA), transformers, PDUs, to AI rack-level distribution (525V/400kW+).
- Develop single-line diagrams, load flow studies, short-circuit analysis, arc-flash calculations, and protection coordination for hyperscale AI workloads.
- Specify high-density power infrastructure: 1.6-2.5MW/m² floor loading, dynamic load balancing, and DC distribution readiness.
- Integrate direct-to-chip liquid cooling electrical requirements (pumps, CRACs, CDUs) with power systems.
Standards & Compliance (20%)
- Ensure designs comply with Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) standards, IEC standrds,Uptime Institute Tier III/IV, and ASHRAE 90.4 PUE targets.
- Conduct value engineering to optimize CAPEX/OPEX for 1.2-1.3 PUE targets while maintaining 99.999% availability.
- Review vendor submittals for transformers, gensets (20-50MW), UPS, ATS, and harmonic mitigation equipment.
Project Delivery & Coordination (15%)
- Collaborate with mechanical, ICT, and civil teams for BIM coordination (Revit/Navisworks).
- Support commissioning planning (FAT/SAT/IST) and reliability run protocols for AI cluster deployment.
- Provide technical authority during client gateway reviews and contractor clarifications.
- Travel to vendor factories and regional sites (10-15%).
Innovation & Optimization (5%)
- Evaluate emerging technologies: 48V DC distribution, synthetic inertia grid services, renewable integration.
- Benchmark designs against hyperscalers for AI-specific power topologies.
Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory:
- Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred).
- 10+ years in data center electrical design, with 3+ years hyperscale/AI projects (>50MW).
- Proven delivery of Tier III/IV electrical designs from concept to commissioning.
- Proficiency: ETAP/PTW (load flow, protection), AutoCAD/Revit, Dialux, MS Office/Project.

- Commercial Awareness: Balances reliability, cost, and schedule for owner-developer priorities.
