Our client is seeking an Electrical Specialist to work within their facilities located in Odessa, TX on a long-term assignment (initially 12 months with possibility of extension / becoming permanent).

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Operate electrical testing equipment. Inspect electrical work for safety.
  • Comply with all safety regulations.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest electrical codes and standards.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Excellent diagnostic and repair skills for complex problems in Electrical distribution systems
  • Capable of installing, troubleshooting, and repairing switchboard control panels and components, motor circuits, building and lighting circuits, and control circuits
  • Capable of understanding mechanical relay logic and ladder logic
  • Capable of programming simple ladder logic and VFDs
  • Proficient at reading electrical installation drawings. Circuit schedules, plans, area class, motor schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Proficient at using all test equipment associated with troubleshooting electrical equipment
  • Knowledgeable of NEC and OSHA standards.
  • Able to safely supervise electrical contract work
  • Able to effectively interface with electrical engineers and energy providers
  • Able to perform preventive maintenance on low voltage electrical equipment such as switchgear, breakers, etc.
  • Good computer skills
  • Team oriented, flexible, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in working with 4160 VAC systems
  • Skilled in overhead power line troubleshooting
  • Comprehensive understanding of Motor Control Center (MCC) operations
  • Knowledgeable in substation functionality and procedures
  • Knowledgeable in synchronous motors troubleshooting and operation

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum Journeyman electrician license
  • 3-5 years oilfield experience preferred, with a responsible attitude for personal safety and the safety of co-workers, contractors & the public
  • Electrically qualified per OSHA 1910.269 up to 600V
