Engineering Lead (Civil & Structural) - Qatar

Job Purpose
- Responsible for overseeing the EPC Contractor in the delivery of all aspects of Civil & Structural engineering, including design, materials, technical specifications, and execution strategy.
- Accountable for the planning and execution of detailed design, procurement, and installation activities.
- Ensures that all technical requirements (e.g., project specifications, procedures) are properly developed and implemented during the EPC phase and fully comply with project requirements.
- Works collaboratively across disciplines to ensure that designs consider the full production lifecycle.
Reporting and Relationships
Reporting:
- Reports to: Engineering Area Manager (Field)
- Direct Reports: None
Internal Interfaces:
- Regular collaboration with Engineering Manager, Field Engineering Area Manager, and discipline leads across Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Telecom, and Loss Prevention.
- Interfaces with Operations Advisors, Project Engineers, and Interface Management teams.
- Frequent coordination with Operations, SEQ (Safety, Environment & Quality), and Engineering departments.
Job Context & Major Challenges
Responsible for reviewing and verifying the design and implementation of Civil & Structural deliverables, including:
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Steel structures
- Underground facilities
- Buildings and architectural works
Key Challenges:
- Managing EPC contract execution and Civil & Structural engineering activities to ensure delivery aligned with project requirements from award through to Provisional Acceptance.
- Maintaining a strong and collaborative working relationship with the EPC contractor to ensure timely and compliant engineering delivery.
- Ensuring alignment and effective communication with key stakeholders, particularly Operations and SEQ, to support seamless execution of engineering deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering.
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Civil & Structural Engineering.
- At least 4 years of experience within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory, leadership, or contractor oversight capacity.
- Proven experience managing contractors, subcontractors, or vendors.
- Preferably experienced in large-scale LNG or similar major industrial projects.
Strong understanding of:
- Engineering design standards, specifications, and codes
- Safety and compliance requirements
- Onshore facilities, utility systems, construction, and operations
