Engineering Lead (Electrical – Power Supply)
Qualifications (Mandatory)
• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
Knowledge and/or Experience
• 8 years experience in Piping Engineering roles, including 4 years in the Oil & Gas Industry
• Preferable experience in a major LNG project
• Demonstrated experience in electrical equipment and systems (HV/MV/LV systems, transformers, switchgear, power management systems, electrical control systems, large motors 40MW+)
• High voltage and large-scale onshore power design requirements
Key Job Accountabilities
- Leads electrical engineering design and planning activities and ensures EPC contractor develops detailed design in accordance with local regulatory requirements, industry standards, project specifications and any approved variations.
- Resolve electrical discipline issues to ensure engineering design addresses project expectations and objectives. Communicate and elevate issues before they escalate to Project Management when necessary.
- Review, evaluate and advise on electrical simulations, optimization, in compliance with design methods and safety factors (for large electrical generation and distribution systems, large motor drivers, VFDs, combined cycle power generation, HV switchgears, electrical integrated control systems and power management systems).
- Review technical aspects of electrical equipment purchase orders with EPC Contractor and vendors to ensure safe and seamless integration of new electrical equipment into existing operating facilities (where applicable).
- Assess discipline plans and work schedules to ensure effective completion of project activities and provide data, change management recommendations and recovery plans to address any delays.
- Monitor and provide guidance to EPC Contractor to ensure key discipline deliverables and milestones are met.
- Coordinate and analyse discipline issues for resolution. Provide electrical engineering input to other disciplines, construction, procurement, etc. Support commissioning, start-up and system completion activities and advise management on electrical matters.
