Every day, our talented teams work on smart solutions that make industries greener and bring us one step closer to combating climate change. In this context we respond to the growing demand for biomethanol from the chemical industry and the maritime sector, among others. At four locations, we are developing biomethanol production facilities with a capacity of 220,000 tonnes of biomethanol per year, all according to the same blueprint: torrefying waste streams into biochar, a large gasifier that converts this biochar into syngas, and a plant that then turns the syngas into methanol. This is how we are creating the sustainable future of tomorrow, today!
Who do we need now?
In relation to the front end engineering & design activities we are currently looking for an Engineering Manager. This manager will not only lead and coordinate these activities but will also make a significant contribution to their content. The role is key to making the Blueprint scalable and adaptable across multiple locations, nationally and internationally.
This is a hands-on, leading and coordinating role where you combine technical expertise with project leadership, ensuring our Blueprint is effectively designed, developed and engineered for global implementation
What will you do?
Lead and coordinate the design and engineering of the Blueprint: prepare, plan, co-ordinate, monitor and execute engineering activities, including review of deliverables and executing/supervising interface engineering activities in close cooperation with the Contracts Manager and the Interface Engineer.
Ensure/monitor compliance with project time lines, applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
Work closely with the Head of Blueprint Development, who is your manager, and manage the discipline engineers and engineering contractors and the technical team (based in Hoofddorp) including assigning responsibilities to and guiding the team.
Maintain the technical integrity of the Blueprint and incorporate "project lessons learned" into the technical package.
Your profile
M.Sc. degree preferred (chemical, mechanical, materials, or related engineering field) or B.Sc. with 15+ years of relevant experience.
Strong engineering knowledge in process or manufacturing industries; chemical, pharmaceutical, or life sciences background is a plus.
Experience with design, planning, and execution of complex engineering projects.
Ability to manage and coordinate teams, make technical decisions, and work across multiple sites.
Familiarity with engineering software (Plant 3D, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MATLAB, Aspen+, HTRI) and standard office tools (Excel, Word, Project).
General understanding of project management skills (scope control, management of change, planning, reporting); decisiveness and leadership skills. And the willingness to participate in training to further develop these skills.
You will mainly work at the office in Hoofddorp, and you must be willing to travel occasionally to project sites and to (engineering) contractors' and suppliers' locations, or to work (part-time) from an engineering contractor location, should outsourcing engineering activities require so.
