Airswift is currently seeking an Execution Process Engineer for an initial 1-year contract supporting a major LNG client in Houston, TX.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Execution Engineer, Process is responsible for the delivery of the process designs, process assurance and performance test verification of Company’s ongoing execution projects. In addition, the Execution Process Engineer advises on all technical matters related to the process design and process technologies associated with the EPC projects. The assigned position is in a multi-discipline team that provides general engineering oversight and support for engineering contractor activities during the detailed design (EPC), and Commissioning and Start-up phases of LNG projects.
The successful candidate will provide expert process engineering support for selected activities such as HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL/LOPA within Company’s ongoing portfolio of projects during the Execute and Commissioning and Start-up stages.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Oversee the development of Process Engineering deliverables from Contractors. This includes process philosophies, PFDs/UFDs, HMBs, P&IDs and other technical Process documents.
- Work closely with Company’s Regulatory team to ensure all PHMSA and other regulatory requirements are met.
- Work closely with Company’s Operation team to ensure facility design meets operability requirements.
- Comply with Company’s guidelines, procedures, plans, and other legal requirements associated with FERC, PHMSA, DOT, LDEQ, OSHA etc.
- Develop process simulations for plant process designs, including natural gas pre-treatment, liquefaction, LNG run-down to storage, Boil-off Gas (BOG) generation and handling for both holding and loading modes of operation.
- Provide support to the Manager of Engineering in addressing technical queries and coordinating project activities.
- Participate in HAZIDs, Model Reviews, HAZOPs, SIL/LOPAs, and other formal hazard assessment workshops. Support company with HAZOP, SIL/LOPA action items closure.
- Provide technical guidance for process equipment qualifications, selection, sizing, procurement, design, shop testing witnessing and acceptance, site installations, and plant commissioning and start up planning.
- Collaborate with other discipline engineers in management of engineering contractors in the design and development of projects.
- Participate in walk-downs of as-built P&IDs prior to commissioning and start-up.
- Monitor plant and equipment performance during commissioning and startup by reviewing production and controls data by exception and identify and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Support plant debottlenecking studies in support of maximum utilization of Company’s facilities.
- Interact with contractor's process team via weekly meetings and provide guidance on the design and construction of the LNG plant and supporting facilities.
- Review contractor process deliverables and ensure design is compliant with codes, standards, and good industry practices.
KNOWLEDGE
- Possess a broad understanding of all facets of the LNG value chain, from gas pipeline transportation and compression through natural gas pre-treatment, liquefaction, run-down to storage, LNG Carrier loading, and export.
- Experience in the application of LNG plant siting criteria (API 752 and 753).
- Possess a broad awareness of the various LNG liquefaction processes and the pertinent codes and standards such as NFPA and API.
- Knowledge of plant maintenance philosophies and design, operation and maintenance of equipment and systems within the LNG liquefaction facility.
- Experience developing process simulations for a range of LNG liquefaction concepts including, but not limited to the Conoco Phillips-Optimized Cascade Process (OCP) and Single Mixed Refrigerant (SMR) technologies.
- Knowledgeable in the areas of process simulation (i.e., HYSYS/ UniSim), plant layout, equipment sizing, Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) modeling, LNG storage, and shipping modeling.
- Knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, and facility siting studies is also required.
- The assignment will require independent work within a small multidiscipline team. An ability to integrate into a team comprising of technical and non-technical/commercial staff is essential.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering is required. Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and Professional Engineering License in good standing with at least one state is preferred.
- Experience: 15+ years of experience as a Process Engineer with a process design background within the LNG industry or similar industry.
