Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Compressor Operator to support compression operations for Permian assets from their facilities in Spring, TX. This is a 1-year assignment with the potential for extension based on performance.
This role requires strong hands-on gas compression experience, with a focus on day-to-day monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of compression equipment. Candidates must bring solid field expertise and the ability to support operations from a control room environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and oversee compression assets supporting Permian operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient performance
- Execute daily operational objectives in alignment with housekeeping, safety, health, environmental, and security standards
- Actively participate in daily toolbox talks, shift briefings, and scheduled safety meetings
- Continuously monitor compression equipment to identify abnormal conditions and implement corrective or optimization actions
- Perform duties as an Equipment Care Technician, including routine and basic hands-on maintenance activities
- Immediately report alarms or situations where emergency or shutdown systems are impaired or out of service
- Provide clear, accurate, and detailed shift handover communication to ensure operational continuity
- Coordinate, control, and monitor maintenance activities in accordance with corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance plans
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logbook entries documenting operational events, deviations, and abnormal situations
- Actively participate in emergency response activities and drills
- Report incidents internally and escalate in accordance with Incident Reporting Guidelines
- Ensure the Operations Shift Supervisor is fully informed and consulted on operational status and issues
- Maintain strong communication within the operations team to ensure timely resolution of issues
- Support field and maintenance activities related to compression equipment as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Completed secondary education or equivalent
- 3–5 years of hands-on gas compression experience
- Proven experience working with small horsepower compression (large horsepower experience is a plus)
- Strong practical knowledge of compression equipment, operations, and troubleshooting
- Experience working in or supporting control room–based operations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High standards of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) awareness and accountability
- Solid understanding of safety management systems and emergency response procedures
- Working knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards
Preferred Experience
- Direct support of Permian basin operations
- Strong field-based compression background combined with control room oversight experience
- Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with operations and maintenance teams
