Airswift is looking for a Flow Assurance & Operability Lead to work in a contractor position in Mexico City for an oil and gas company.
The Flow Assurance and Operability (FA&O) Lead serves as the technical authority responsible for governing the FA&0 and Production Chemistry for the Zama Project in the Gulf of Mexico/ Mexico, providing leadership from FEED through detailed engineering, pre commissioning, and early operational support, ensuring the integrity, operabitity, reliability, and regulatory compliance of subsea system throughout the project lifecycle.
The FA&0 Lead provides coordination across project phases, requiring extensive experience in flow assurance, production chemistry, and Mexican offshore operations, with strong communication skills in English and Spanish
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure safe working practices are implemented within the team along alt phases of the project.
Promote a positive safety culture.
Assist the SURF/SPS/GEP Manager and Subsurface Manager in the successful management and achievement of project objectives.
Provide technical leadership, oversight and quality assurance throughout the project's phases, and contribute to internal process improvements. It includes conducting post-job evaluations and capture lessons learned to drive continuous improvement across FA&0 and Production Chemistry engineering activities.
Lead and coordinate the FA&0 engineering work during FEED, Contract finalization, Project preparation and Project execution.
Perform stipulated and ad-hoc engineering studies related to FA&O, including but
not limited to:
Steady-state and transient multiphase flow modeling to optimize system design, assess thermal-hydraulic performance, and define operating envelopes,
Characterize fluids using thermodynamic simulators and develop mitigation strategies for solids (hydrates, wax/paraffins, asphaltenes, scale, corrosion) specific to Mexican crude compositions.
Define operability philosophy and operational guidelines
Identify chemical injection points, chemical injection strategy, and verify feasibility of chemical delivery system with detailed hydraulic analysis.
Leverage intimate knowledge of local Mexican vendors, chemical supply chains, and offshore logistics to optimize chemical injection programs and subsea operations.
Interface directly with Mexican operators, regulators, and stakeholders in both English and Spanish,
Assist the SURF, SPS and GEP Leads in the preparation of procurement package information as required. Lead the FA&0 technical clarifications with Tenderers and ensure timely closing of technical qualifications
Ensure progress, fitness for purpose, and compliance with COMPANY Rules and Specifications, Project requirements and international codes of alt engineering for Subsea and offshore work during alt Project phases,
Identify, implement, and coordinate any FA&0 study, testing or survey necessary to
ensure readiness and fitness for purpose,
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; postgraduate studies highly desirable.
Certificate or diploma in Project Management, Business Administration, or Economics from an internationally recognized institution is a plus.
Extensive experience in Flow Assurance and Production Chemistry in the oil and gas industry, including:
Solid knowledge of multiphase pipeline flow, thermodynamics, and transport phenomena.
Proven recent experience in transient multiphase flow modeling with OLGA software.
Experience with PVT thermodynamic packages (e.g., Multiflash) and Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS).
Proven experience in Production Chemistry for Mexican assets, including chemical selection, injection strategies, and risk mitigation for region-specific issues (asphaltenes, emulsions, waxes, hydrates, fouling, corrosion).
Programming skills (Python preferred) to develop custom models and automate analyses.
Subsea Interconnection Project in Residual Fields (including offshore experience)
Prior involvement in multiple Mexican offshore projects (conceptual design, FEED, or operational support).
Prior experience in projects involving Mexican national operators, state-affiliated entities, or joint ventures, including FA&O studies, pre-commissioning, and initial operation activities.
Strong international experience in executing deepwater projects and operations, including experience in foreign regulatory compliance.
Proven experience acting as Owner's Engineer/technical authority for deepwater offshore projects and operations.
Familiarity with rigid/flexible hybrid systems, pigging philosophy development, and pre-commissioning strategy definition.
The candidate must be familiar with and have experience in subsea intervention operations (SCM exchanges, Flying Lead exchanges, paraffin remediation, asphaltene remediation, hydrate remediation, etc.).
