Overview

The Development Analyst is a key member of the Development Team within the Development Group. This role reports to the Development Analyst Supervisor and supports both Engineering and Geoscience functions.

The analyst will be responsible for optimizing field development strategies, identifying high-return drilling opportunities, and presenting recommendations to senior leadership. The goal is to create development plans that maximize flexibility while meeting economic and corporate objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex analyses to support development planning, well performance evaluation, and budgeting
  • Utilize multiple systems and databases to organize, manage, and analyze data (Excel, Access, GIS, SQL, Spotfire, Alteryx, etc.)
  • Ensure data integrity and adherence to governance best practices
  • Collaborate with Area Development Managers, Geology, and Engineering teams to define and communicate development strategies
  • Perform roadmap evaluations for development projects
  • Maintain alignment between development plans and inventory databases for:
    • Well approvals
    • Budgeting and scheduling
    • Land trade evaluations
    • Facilities planning
    • Permitting, reserves, and NAV
  • Prepare and communicate documentation to initiate execution of approved plans
  • Manage Project Change Management requests to ensure development objectives are achieved
  • Maintain spatial data and inventory within EM systems
  • Perform ad hoc data analysis, scenario modeling, and economic evaluations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:
    • Computer Science
    • Geology
    • Economics
    • Mathematics
    • Engineering
    • Or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical role (oil & gas industry preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
  • Experience building data visualizations using business intelligence tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with:
    • Spotfire
    • Microsoft Access
    • SQL
    • Oracle databases
  • Experience with GIS platforms
