Job Profile: Head of Data and Systems
Purpose
The Head Data and Systems is responsible for driving the strategic management, implementation, and optimization of finance-related data, systems, and reporting capabilities across the Company. This includes leading Finance’s participation in enterprise-wide system projects to ensure that financial requirements, accounting treatments, and data integrity are embedded from design to delivery.
The role will oversee finance data analytics, finance system management, and finance reporting support, ensuring accurate accounting entries across all systems implemented within the Company. The position works closely with Company Finance leadership, other business unit heads, consultants, and contractors to deliver projects and solutions that strengthen financial decision-making, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance within F&P.
Key Results Area (KRAs) or Key Deliverables
- Provide strategic direction for Finance-specific systems, data management, and analytics capabilities across the company.
- Serve as the Finance representative in group-wide system initiatives, ensuring financial requirements are incorporated into project design and execution.
- Align Finance data and systems strategy with the company’s broader digital transformation agenda and business growth objectives.
- Lead the implementation of Finance-specific systems and data projects and represent Finance interests in relevant enterprise-level programs.
- Oversee project planning, stakeholder engagement, testing, and deployment phases for finance-owned system and data projects to ensure timely and quality delivery.
- Coordinate with IT, Operations, Risk, and other functions to ensure seamless integration of Finance systems with other platforms.
- Lead the design and delivery of finance-specific analytical tools, dashboards, and reports to support decision-making at Board, EXCO, and management levels.
- Drive automation, self-service analytics, and advanced reporting capabilities within the Finance function.
- Oversee all Finance-related systems, including general ledger, sub-ledgers, reporting tools, budgeting and forecasting platforms, and consolidation systems.
- Ensure accounting entries generated from all systems (including non-finance business platforms) are accurate, timely, and compliant with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage finance system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations to improve efficiency and functionality.
- Support company Finance in producing accurate and timely management reports, regulatory returns, and external disclosures.
- Ensure that system-generated financial data meets internal and external audit requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Company Finance Heads, EXCO, Business Unit leaders, and regional Finance teams.
- Manage relationships with external consultants, vendors, and contractors engaged in Finance systems and data projects.
- Provide mentorship, skills development, and career growth opportunities for team members.
- Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture across the Finance & Business Enablement division.
- Should there be a point around BCP, disaster recovery, and other op risk accountability for finance systems?
