Job Purpose
• Responsible for overseeing mechanical engineering activities for static and package, ensuring all technical requirements such as project specifications, data sheets, etc. are in full compliance with project requirements, standardised processes, and are delivered to the highest technical quality standards.
• Perform a cold eye review of the mechanical deliverables.
• Provide clear guidance to the EPC contractor, sub-contractors and vendors and facilitate resolution of mechanical technical issues to complete mechanical engineering activities to meet project objectives and milestones.
• During start-up and early operations phases, until the performance tests completion, provide ad hoc field engineering assistance.
Context
• This position is responsible to ensure all Static and Package technical activities associated with the mechanical engineering discipline by the EPC contractor, and all third parties such as vendors, consultants, sub contractors, etc, are executed to Project’s specifications and requirements.
• This will involve technical evaluations, including risk-based evaluation of complex engineering issues, resolution of mechanical related matters with significant project execution and/or commercial impact to ensure optimum outcomes to meet technical and execution expectations.
• Major challenges for this role include (1) effectively managing EPC contract and mechanical engineering team to produce timely deliverables up to Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC), (2) maintaining constructive working relationship with EPC contractor to ensure delivery of engineering work scope in accordance with project requirements, (3) maintaining proper relationship with key stakeholders (e.g. Operations), and (4) to ensure high quality of mechanical engineering deliverables. • Delivering a very large scope of work to achieve project expectations.
• Required to contribute to other multi-disciplinary tasks whilst providing expertise in mechanical specialised discipline area.
• Expertise about static & package equipment is a must, as well as about packages (such as, desalination, cooling towers, steam boiler, ACC (Air Cooled Steam Condenser), Air instrument generation, N2 generation (liquefaction), chemical injection, waste water treatment, potable water treatment).
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Knowledge
• 10 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering roles, including 6 years in the Oil & Gas Industry, and including 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or acting role, or oversight of contractor/subcontractors/service/vendor personnel.
• Preferable experience in a major LNG Project.
• Broad knowledge of engineering execution including design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria, onshore LNG facilities and utility systems design, construction and operations.
