HSE Representative
Contract Position (Opportunity to Become Permanent)
Airswift is supporting one of our clients, a Calgary-based environmental consulting and waste management company serving the upstream oil and gas industry, in their search for a skilled Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Representative.
The client provides full?service remediation and reclamation contracting, technical environmental services, and specialized waste management solutions. They operate projects throughout Alberta, supporting a variety of upstream oil and gas operations. This role will work closely with field teams and project managers to maintain a strong safety culture within an active industrial and environmental services environment.
This is a contract position with the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Implement and maintain proactive safety programs, procedures, and preventative measures.
- Promote strong safety and environmental awareness across operational and project teams.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor incident, near?miss, and hazard?reporting systems.
- Respond promptly to HSE concerns and support root?cause investigations.
- Coordinate and deliver HSE-related training (first aid, CPR, hazard ID, inspections, etc.).
- Maintain COR, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, and related compliance programs.
- Review and update HSE manuals, policies, and documentation to ensure regulatory alignment.
- Maintain accurate safety logs, reports, and documentation.
- Provide a consistent, visible safety presence at field and client locations.
- Support preparation of HSE-related content for bid and prequalification packages.
Experience & Qualifications
- Working toward or holding NCSO; strong knowledge of OHS regulations.
- CRSP designation or OHS?related education considered an asset.
- Standard First Aid required; Advanced First Aid and CPR are assets.
- 3–5 years of HSE experience in environmental services, waste management, oil & gas, industrial, or construction settings.
- Strong understanding of HSE management systems and provincial regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem?solving, and decision?making skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with field personnel, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with SiteDocs, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, and Microsoft Office.
Skills, Competencies & Requirements
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (non?GDL).
- Ability to travel to project and field sites across Alberta.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Dependable, adaptable, and committed to promoting a positive safety culture.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office?based with regular field visits to active remediation, reclamation, and waste management project sites.
- Travel may be required depending on operational needs.
