Instrument & Control (I&C) Engineer
Location: Bergen, Norway
Overview
Join a skilled, agile engineering team delivering projects across new energies, carbon capture (CCUS), hydrogen, LNG and offshore oil & gas. As an Instrument & Control Engineer you’ll own I&C engineering from early studies and FEED through detailed design, vendor follow?up, installation and commissioning. This role offers variety (concept work, process modules and turnkey deliveries), exposure to safety?critical systems, and a chance to contribute to the energy transition within a compact, collaborative organisation based in Bergen.
Required Skills
- Strong competence in field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical).
- Proven experience in control systems: DCS, PLC and SIS design and architecture.
- Ability to produce control narratives, cause & effect diagrams, I/O lists, instrument datasheets, loop diagrams and hook?ups.
- Experience with control logic inputs, FAT/SAT support and vendor package follow?up.
- Working knowledge of safety systems (ESD, Fire & Gas) and integration of safety?critical systems.
- Excellent multidisciplinary coordination skills (electrical, mechanical, process).
- Strong English communication (verbal and written); able to interface with clients and vendors.
- Structured, solution?oriented, proactive approach and ability to work in a fast?paced EPC environment.
Nice to Have Skills
- Hands?on experience with specific DCS/PLC platforms (vendor names) and engineering tools used for I&C design.
- Background in hydrogen, green ammonia, or CO2 capture equipment.
- Experience with large motors, switchboards and transformer interfaces.
- Norwegian language skills (helpful but not required).
- Previous involvement in offshore or floating LNG projects.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum ~5 years’ relevant industry experience in instrumentation, automation or control engineering — ideally within oil & gas, LNG, CCUS, hydrogen or related process industries.
- Demonstrated track record on multidisciplinary EPC projects.
Other Requirements
- Full?time, permanent position (typical 40 hours/week).
- On?site based in Bergen (initial training and most work in Bergen; some site work and occasional travel may be required).
- Right to work in Norway required (no visa sponsorship).
- Willingness to travel or work from other locations when project needs demand.
