Intermediate Electrical & Controls Designer

About the Role

They are looking for an Intermediate Electrical & Controls Designer to support a range of energy related projects. This role will focus on producing high quality electrical and control system designs, drawings, and documentation within a multidisciplinary project environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical and control design packages, including cable tray routing, lighting and grounding layouts, power distribution, equipment lists, and related drawings.
  • Develop single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O loops, and control panel layouts.
  • Perform design calculations such as voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill, and heat trace requirements.
  • Maintain and update electrical load lists, cable schedules, and other project databases.
  • Review drawings and design packages for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering leads, project managers, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated, fit for purpose designs.
  • Support quality control efforts and contribute to continuous improvement within the design team.

What You Bring

  • Diploma in Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in electrical and control design within oil & gas, EPC/EPCM, or similar process industry environments.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code and its application in design work.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with 3D design tools (AutoCAD 3D preferred).
  • Familiarity with project databases or design management tools is an asset.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment.
