Inventory & Materials Management Controller

Our client in the FMCG industry is seeking an experienced Inventory & Materials Management Controller to join their Supply Chain Department, reporting to the Head of Warehouse with a dotted line to Finance.

This role is responsible for developing and enforcing best?practice inventory control across multiple production and warehousing sites. The successful candidate will ensure inventory accuracy, protect working capital, maintain segregation of duties, and support uninterrupted production and service levels through strong governance, analysis, and compliance oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure alignment between system and physical inventory across all sites
  • Lead cycle counts, full stock takes, variance investigation, and root?cause corrective actions
  • Provide functional leadership to inventory officers
  • Oversee inventory movements across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
  • Enforce food safety, FIFO/FEFO, traceability, and cold?chain compliance
  • Monitor stock ageing, shelf life, and non?conforming inventory
  • Identify supply risks, stock?out exposure, and overstock situations
  • Govern inventory transactions and reporting within ERP systems (Syspro or similar)
  • Produce and validate inventory reports for operational and finance teams

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in inventory, warehouse, supply chain, or finance roles (FMCG/food production preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, and cold?chain management
  • Understanding of HACCP, GMP, and food safety compliance standards
  • ERP experience (Syspro or similar) with strong data analysis and reporting capability
  • Experience working across multi?site operations
  • PNG/APAC or developing?market experience advantageous
  • Forklift licence or warehouse safety training beneficial
