Lead Marine Engineer — Discipline Lead (Offshore / FPSO)
Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands — role is office?based 3 days/week with 2 days remote (hybrid).
Overview
Join our engineering team as Lead Marine Engineer, delivering reliable, cost?effective and safe engineering solutions for offshore oil & gas projects (including FPSO/EPC scopes). In this hands?on leadership role you’ll plan and deliver discipline activities, optimize designs to international codes and internal standards, and manage technical interfaces with clients, vendors, classification societies and subcontractors to ensure projects meet schedule, budget and quality targets.
Required skills
- Marine/Naval engineering design experience (proven track record delivering offshore hull, marine systems or structural work).
- EPC project experience in the oil & gas sector.
- Deep knowledge of international marine/oil & gas design codes, company and industry standards.
- Strong technical judgement for selection of methods, procedures and design optimization.
- Discipline planning and resource management: ability to define resource needs and deliver work within agreed timeframes and budgets.
- Experience managing discipline interfaces with clients, subcontractors, vendors and classification societies.
- Proven ability to capture lessons learned and manage change impacts across systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in an international project environment.
- Proficiency with naval/marine engineering tools (SBM uses NAPA).
- Several years of senior engineering experience with demonstrated lead/mentoring capability.
Nice-to-have skills
- Prior appointment as Principal, Technical Expert (TE) or Engineering Method Authority.
- Experience working on FPSO projects specifically.
- Familiarity with vendor management and third?party verification processes.
- Multilingual abilities relevant to international teams.
Preferred education and experience
- Engineer diploma (relevant discipline: Naval/Marine, Offshore Structural, Mechanical, or similar).
- 10–15 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry (or equivalent).
- Track record of senior engineering roles with demonstrable leadership responsibilities; candidates without a formal “Lead” title are acceptable if experience shows lead-level capability.

- Employment: Full?time, permanent position. Start date: ASAP.
- Work authorization: Employer will sponsor where required.
- Offshore travel or site visits may be required depending on project needs.
- This is a staff (permanent) position (not a contractor role).
