Our client, a major Oil and gas company, is looking for a Logistics Manager to work on a 12 months contract in Anchorage, AK
Position Overview
The Heavy Industrial Construction group is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to support a large scale, remote industrial construction program. This role is responsible for managing the full logistics process, including coordination of transportation for materials, equipment, and vendors to remote job sites. In this environment, logistics is managed internally, making this a critical leadership position within the procurement and supply chain organization.
The Logistics Manager will provide leadership, oversight, and technical expertise to ensure logistics activities are executed efficiently, cost effectively, and in alignment with project schedules, safety requirements, and risk management strategies
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end to end logistics process for a large scale industrial construction project
- Coordinate transportation of materials, equipment, and vendors to remote locations
- Interface directly with trucking providers, aviation and flight logistics vendors, and third party transportation partners
- Act as the logistics subject matter expert for the project team
Serve as the primary point of contact for site personnel, transportation contractors, and supply chain partners
Procurement and Supply Chain Leadership- Provide leadership, guidance, and expertise by defining, implementing, and monitoring logistics and procurement resources, guidelines, and procedures
- Develop and implement project specific logistics and procurement plans, anticipating risks and embedding mitigation strategies into the plan, budget, and schedule
- Conduct market analysis and monitor conditions related to pricing, availability, capacity, and lead times for goods and services
- Support the development and execution of logistics related risk management strategies
- Collaborate closely with procurement, construction, suppliers, logistics vendors, and internal departments
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders to resolve issues, share information, and maintain alignment with project objectives
Support a construction environment that does not traditionally self perform logistics management by providing structure, process, and leadership
Administrative and Technical Execution- Maintain accurate logistics tracking, documentation, and reporting
- Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills to organize, analyze, and report logistics data
- Ensure strong technical and administrative oversight of logistics activities
Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced project environment
Leadership and Team Development- Train, coach, and support team members within the procurement and logistics function
- Promote best practices, continuous improvement, and professional development
- Demonstrate strong leadership, accountability, and effective decision making
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in supply chain, logistics, or procurement within a related industry
- Experience supporting construction, heavy industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience
- Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, and procedures
- Ability to manage complex logistics in remote or challenging environments
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong overall computer literacy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to senior leaders
- Strong organizational skills, sense of urgency, and ability to prioritize changing demands
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, project driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting remote or Alaska based project logistics
- Prior experience coordinating material and personnel movement to remote job sites
- Familiarity with EPC or owner led logistics coordination models
