Airswift is looking for a Master Data Analyst to work remotely with one of our clients in Houston, TX, for a 6-month assignment with the possibility of extension.

The Master Data Analyst (SAP) will support critical master data activities for Material Master, BOMs, Routings and Production Versions in SAP. This role will focus on cleaning up product hierarchy and preparing master data for the client's upcoming project, as well as ongoing SKU corrections, extensions, and data quality improvements. The analyst will work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., planning, operations, and IT) to ensure data accuracy and availability to avoid supply and distribution disruptions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • SAP Master Data Maintenance
  • Create and maintain material master records (T-codes: MM01/MM02), including relevant views (MM, WM/EWM, MRP, costing, etc.).
  • Create and maintain Bills of Material (CS01/CS02), Routings (CA01/CA02), and Production Versions (C223)
  • Ensure all required views and mandatory fields are complete and consistent for new and existing SKUs.
  • Product Hierarchy & Classification Cleanup
  • Clean up product hierarchy, material classifications and characteristics in SAP in coordination with designated subject matter experts.
  • Prepare and align master data to support the Kinaxis Fittings project and related planning activities.
  • Standardize naming, units of measure, and characteristics values where needed.
  • SKU Correction & Lifecycle Management
  • Execute SKU correction tasks, including:
  1. Creating new “correct” SKUs when required (e.g., for incorrect setup or structural changes).
  2. Updating and maintaining cross-reference lists (xref) between old and new SKUs.
  3. Coordinating with stakeholders to migrate demand/supply and usage to new SKUs.
  4. Obsoleting and blocking old SKUs once transition is complete in line with internal guidelines.
  • Monitor and follow up with functional owners to ensure timely completion of required changes.
  • Ad-hoc Master Data Change Requests
  • Process ad-hoc master data change requests such as MRP parameters or EWM settings.
  • Validate requests, obtain required approvals and ensure changes are accurately reflected in SAP.
  • SKU Extensions & Distribution Support
  • Perform SKU extensions to Distribution Centers / warehouses (e.g., for new warehouses or new stocking strategies).
  • Validate that all required views and fields are maintained to prevent supply, planning, or distribution disruptions.
  • Data Quality & Reporting
  • Perform regular data quality checks to identify:
  1. Duplicates
  2. Incomplete or inconsistent records
  3. Misaligned product classifications or hierarchies
  • Use Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, filters, etc.) to analyze data and prepare simple reports and dashboards.
  • Propose and implement corrective actions in partnership with data owners.
  • Activity Tracking & Metrics
  • Maintain an activity log/metrics to track:
  1. Number of SKUs corrected
  2. Number of SKU extensions completed
  3. Number of master data changes processed
  4. Data quality issues identified and resolved
  • Provide periodic status updates and summaries demonstrating progress and value over the 6-month period.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with SAP in a supply chain, planning, or operations environment.
  • Practical experience maintaining SAP master data using T-codes:
  • MM01/MM02 – Material Master
  • CS01/CS02 – Bills of Material
  • CA01/CA02 – Routings
  • C223 – Production Versions
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including:
  • Pivot tables
  • VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP
  • Data filters, conditional formatting, and basic formulas for data validation.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and attention to detail when working with large data sets.
  • Ability to follow defined processes and controls for master data, and to document work clearly.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
