We are seeking a Mechanical Planner to support turnaround (TA) activities within a refinery environment. This role is responsible for developing detailed work plans for mechanical maintenance and repair tasks to ensure safe, efficient, and timely execution during shutdown events. The Mechanical Planner plays a key role in minimizing downtime and ensuring all work is properly prepared before execution.
Responsibilities:
Develop detailed job plans for mechanical work including step-by-step procedures, labor estimates, and required resources
Review P&IDs, isometric drawings, and equipment documentation to define job scope
Identify and coordinate materials, tools, equipment, and contractor support
Create and maintain job packages with safety requirements, permits, and work instructions
Support turnaround planning efforts, including scheduling and work prioritization
Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors to ensure alignment
Ensure compliance with safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Help resolve scope or planning issues prior to execution to prevent delays
Equipment Scope May Include:
Pumps, compressors, and turbines
Heat exchangers and vessels
Piping systems and valves
Towers and rotating equipment
Requirements:
Experience in mechanical maintenance or planning in a refinery, petrochemical, or industrial environment
Strong understanding of refinery equipment and processes
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (P&IDs, isometrics)
Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced turnaround environment
