Our client, a major Oil and Gas client, is looking for a Project Operator to join their team in Redwater, AB. This will be a contract opportunity until the end of 2026 with possibility of extension.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Ensure a high standard of safety on all construction activities from construction kick offs to commissioning and startup. Regular interface meetings with the project CMT
and construction teams. - Working with different project managers and engineering teams on concurrent work scopes
- Review different project design drawings that are issued from various doc control teams.
- Plan & organize tie ins/outages with the support of the Project Operations Coordinator.
- Support other non-project work that comes from the OMC team (ops/maintenance) that the facility prioritized for planning and executing.
- Manage communications and priorities for the various work scopes.
- Interface with main operations on coordinating the daily safe work permits.
- Managing daily field activities including safe work permits, field site visits, and job walkdowns
- Build LOTO’s and tie-ins while following Safe Work practices and standards while minimizing effects on the live facilities. Collaboration with other departments on site to coordinate work activities and conflicts such as the OMC team, main ops, maintenance, engineering, and the cavern team.
- The work week will typically be a 5-10+hr/day (50+hr/week) week on days, understanding that there will be times when we extend beyond that to meet specific milestones/deadlines. There could be times when the team is in between work scopes and we could reduce our hours to a staggered 4-10hr/day work week (40hr/week).
- Understanding work schedules are dynamic due to unforeseen circumstances and project operations will be required to accommodate on short notice. Being prepared, available and ready for those tasks are critical to the project’s success.
- Nightshift coverage may be needed from time to time to accommodate construction milestone tie ins. This is typical for outages while executing tie ins.
- Plan the work and work the plan and if anything changes stop to reassess. Being engaged and collaborating with our contractors daily and interfacing throughout each shift.
- It is our responsibility to be operations SMEs for the projects were supporting. It will be the responsibility of the ops project team to support a smooth transition of new equipment over to the main operations group.

Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to those who have experience in NGL fractionation (Paraffins & Olefins), rail, truck loading, and cavern operations.
- Self-learner and able to prioritize work in a brownfield environment.
- SWAT, SDK testing and understanding control loops are considered an asset but not required.
- Build LOTO’s procedures while following company’s isolation and first break standards.
- Commissioning and Start-up experience would be considered an asset.
- Strong background with process in order to troubleshoot process problems or carryout complex system isolations with minimal assistance.
- Strong organizational skills, analytical thinkers that can think outside the box when situations change or do not go as planned. Individuals that can remain calm when things are not going as planned. “Stop, think, and reassess”
- Minimum 4th class power engineering ticket required, but all tickets will be considered in conjunction with experience.
