PRE-COMMISSIONING & COMMISSIONING ELECTRICAL SUPERINTENDENT
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning Electrical Superintendent to lead and coordinate electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities on a major onshore energy development project. The role is responsible for ensuring the safe, timely, and compliant execution of all electrical systems through completion, energization, testing, and handover to operations.
The successful candidate will act as a key site-based technical authority, coordinating closely with construction, commissioning, operations, contractors, and engineering teams to deliver systems in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Execution
- Lead and supervise all electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including inspections, testing, energization, and system handover.
- Ensure readiness of electrical systems for commissioning by validating construction completion, punch list clearance, and mechanical completion dossiers.
- Oversee execution of insulation resistance tests, continuity checks, functional testing, loop checks, cable meggering, and high?voltage testing.
- Manage and authorize electrical system energization activities, ensuring compliance with approved procedures and permits.
- Coordinate commissioning sequences aligned with system priorities and overall project schedules.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with HSE policies, electrical safety regulations, and project commissioning procedures.
- Lead risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHA), and method statement reviews related to electrical works.
- Enforce (LOTO) and safe isolation procedures during testing and energization.
- Promote a strong safety culture within commissioning teams and contractor workforce.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise electrical commissioning supervisors, technicians, and contractors on site.
- Allocate manpower, tools, and resources effectively to meet commissioning milestones.
- Interface closely with construction, instrumentation, mechanical, and operations teams to resolve inter-disciplinary issues.
- Coordinate with vendors and OEMs during factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and specialized commissioning activities.
Documentation & Reporting
- Review and approve electrical commissioning procedures, test packs, and completion dossiers.
- Ensure accurate recording of test results and verification data in commissioning databases.
- Track and manage punch lists, anomalies, and non-conformances to closure.
- Provide regular progress reports, highlighting risks, delays, and mitigation actions to commissioning management.
Technical Oversight
- Provide technical leadership for HV and LV systems including:
- HV/LV switchgear
- Transformers
- Motors and drives (VFDs)
- UPS systems
- Emergency power and generators
- Lighting, earthing, and lightning protection systems
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of electrical issues encountered during commissioning and early operation.
Handover & Start-Up Support
- Support structured handover of commissioned systems to operations and maintenance teams.
- Participate in start-up, performance testing, and early operational support as required.
- Ensure commissioning documentation is complete, approved, and archived per project requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
Experience
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in electrical engineering within large EPC or energy infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning of complex industrial facilities (LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, or power generation projects preferred).
- Hands-on experience with high-voltage electrical systems and critical power infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of international electrical codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, NFPA, etc.).

Work Conditions
- Site-based role within a large industrial construction environment.
- May require shift work, extended hours, and weekend coverage during critical commissioning phases.
- Ability to work in challenging climatic conditions as per project location.
