Pipeline Engineer
- Responsible for the design of high-pressure steel natural gas pipelines for the Feeder-Line Replacement program
- Ensures all activities meet or exceed regulatory requirements, including Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 192, and company standards
- Accountable for engineering design, analysis, installation support, commissioning, operability, and pipeline integrity
Key Responsibilities

Provide technical and design support for:
- Pipeline routing and layout
- Block valve and tap valve placement
- Crossings (rivers, interstates, highways) using:
- Open cut (dig) methods
- Trenchless construction methods

Perform engineering analyses, including:
- Internal pressure stress
- External loads
- Thermal expansion
- Soil loads
- Seismic impacts

Ensure compliance with:
- Industry codes and standards
- Regulatory requirements
- Engineering best practices

Specify pipeline materials, including:
- Pipe grades and specifications
- Coating systems

Support procurement activities:
- Material selection
- Vendor coordination

Prepare and submit engineering documentation:
- Calculations
- Forms
- Checklists

Track and support project execution:
- Monitor schedules
- Track budgets
- Develop pressure testing procedures
- Support commissioning activities
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Design/drafting teams (construction drawings)
- Right-of-way agents (easements and land access)
- Cathodic protection engineers (corrosion control)
- Environmental specialists (wetlands, wildlife, cultural resources)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (accredited institution)
- 4–7 years of relevant pipeline or related engineering experience
