Airswift is seeking a Piping Engineer (Level I) to support an EPC Company in Abu Dhabi.

Role Purpose

  • Deliver piping engineering and design outputs for assigned areas/packages in line with project scope, specifications, design parameters, applicable codes and industry best practices.
  • Apply strong hands-on piping design capability; candidates with additional exposure to piping stress analysis and piping materials/procurement support are preferred.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multi-discipline team to deliver safe, accurate, timely and constructible designs; support reviews, vendor interfaces and construction queries as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience (as requested)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent discipline).

  • Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in piping engineering within the Oil & Gas/Energy/Process industries, preferably in EPC/EPCM project delivery.

  • Proven experience delivering piping design and layout outputs (2D/3D), including isometrics and material take-offs (MTOs).

  • Preferred: ability to perform or support piping stress analysis tasks (e.g., basic model set-up, verification checks, coordination of loads/nozzle data) and pipe support coordination.

  • Preferred: ability to perform or support piping materials engineering and procurement activities (line list, PMS/line classes, datasheets, MRs, TBEs and vendor document review).

  • ADNOC standards awareness and GCC experience are advantages; familiarity with company systems and work processes is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Piping Engineering & Design Delivery (Primary)

  • Review project specifications, administrative and technical practices, design instructions, plot plans, flow diagrams and supplier information to execute the assigned scope.

  • Develop and revise piping layouts and drawings (including general arrangements) using project-approved tools, templates and standards.

  • Prepare, update and check piping isometrics, tie-in information and associated deliverables to ensure designs are accurate, complete and constructible.

  • Prepare and/or validate piping material take-offs (bulk, valves and special items) and support quantity reporting, as required.

  • Participate in 3D model reviews and clash resolution with designers and other disciplines; ensure access, operability, maintainability and constructability requirements are addressed.

Stress Analysis & Pipe Support Coordination (Preferred)

  • Support piping stress analysis by providing accurate design inputs (routing, elevations, penetrations, equipment nozzle data and proposed support locations).

  • Assist with stress sketches/mark-ups and coordinate design updates resulting from stress findings (loops, flexibility, supports, anchors/guides).

  • Coordinate piping and nozzle load data with Civil/Structural and Mechanical disciplines, supporting timely interface closure.

  • Support development of pipe support requirements (support location plans and standard/special support inputs) and respond to related technical queries.

Piping Materials Engineering & Procurement Support (Preferred)

  • Develop and maintain the line list and piping service/line designation data for the assigned scope.

  • Prepare and maintain piping specialty item lists and datasheets (e.g., valves, flanges, fittings and specialty items), as required.

  • Support preparation and update of material requisitions (MRs) and assist with technical bid evaluations (TBEs) for piping bulk materials, valves and special items.

  • Review vendor drawings and documents related to piping/materials; manage technical clarifications and deviations in coordination with the Lead/Principal Engineer.

  • Interface with Procurement and QA/QC to support material compliance, documentation and traceability requirements, as applicable.

Quality, Checking & Engineering Governance

  • Execute work in accordance with approved codes, standards and project procedures; complete checking/back-checking per the project quality plan.

  • Review and comment on drawings and supplier information from other disciplines where piping interfaces exist; ensure changes are captured in master documents.

  • Maintain document control, progress reporting and proactive communication of issues/risks to the Area/Lead Engineer.

Construction / Site Support (As Assigned)

  • Provide construction support by interpreting drawings/specifications, responding to RFIs/field queries and implementing approved design changes.

  • Support site surveys/walkdowns and verify existing conditions for brownfield tie-ins; collect field data and photographs, as required.

Typical Deliverables

  • Piping layouts/general arrangement drawings, piping plans and related drawings
  • Piping isometrics, tie-in packages/lists, line list updates and MTOs

  • Datasheets (valves, fittings, flanges and specialty items) and line class/PMS inputs (as applicable)

  • Pipe support location inputs and stress-related design updates (as applicable)

  • Vendor document review comments, MR/TBE support packages (as applicable)

Core Competencies

  • Strong piping design fundamentals and ability to deliver high-quality drawings and documentation.

  • Working knowledge of piping codes/standards and ability to apply project specifications.

  • Good coordination skills across disciplines and with vendors; clear written and verbal communication.

  • Proactive safety mindset and adherence to project HSE requirements.

  • Continuous learning attitude (stress, materials and procurement exposure preferred).
