Provide strong technical delivery with strength in piping stress analysis, pipe supports, piping materials engineering and procurement support, while supervising and mentoring less experienced engineers/designers.
Execute piping engineering work independently with sound engineering judgement, ensuring quality, schedule and budget commitments are met, and interfaces are managed effectively across disciplines, vendors and construction.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience (as specified)
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
10+
years total experience in piping engineering within Oil & Gas / Energy / Process industries.
5+
years offshore experience with extended proven offshore design experience (must-have).
5+
years detailed engineering offshore (preferred).
Strong FEED experience with demonstrated leadership activities (task leadership, supervision, mentoring, and multi-discipline interface).
Good knowledge of piping stress analysis and pipe supports (static/dynamic as applicable).
Good knowledge of piping materials engineering and procurement processes (PMS/line classes, MTO/MR, TBE, vendor document reviews).
ADNOC standards awareness is an advantage; familiarity with Worley systems/templates is a plus; GCC experience is a plus.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
HSE, SEAL & Safety in Design
Demonstrate visible commitment to HSE and promote safe behaviours; comply with project and corporate HSE requirements in all work activities.
Participate in SEAL alignment and hazard/risk assessment workshops and incorporate outcomes into piping engineering deliverables and decisions.
Apply Safety in Design principles (ALARP / hierarchy of controls) and ensure hazards/risks are identified, communicated and managed through design and reviews.
Project Execution, Leadership & Delivery Management
Plan, schedule and deliver assigned piping engineering scope to meet project milestones, quality requirements and budgeted hours.
Supervise and guide piping and junior engineers/designers; provide coaching, checking/back-checking and technical direction.
Support development of discipline CTRs/estimates, progress reporting, and deliverables tracking for assigned work packages.
Coordinate closely with the Piping Lead/Principal on priorities, risks, constraints and interface resolution (inter-discipline, vendor, subcontractor and client).
Piping Engineering & Layout (Offshore Focus)
Review project scope, design basis, specifications and design criteria; apply relevant international codes and customer standards (including ADNOC where applicable).
Develop and check piping layouts and engineering deliverables ensuring safe access/egress, operability, maintainability and constructability; support plot plan and 3D model reviews.
Coordinate piping routing and layout interfaces with process, mechanical, civil/structural, E&I and HSE; identify clashes and drive closure via agreed actions.
Provide technical input for offshore brownfield constraints including tie-in feasibility, space/weight limitations, installation methodology considerations and shutdown/workpack requirements (as applicable to scope).
Piping Stress Analysis & Pipe Supports (Strong Focus)
Perform and/or review piping stress analysis using project-approved software and manual methods as required; ensure compliance with the project-adopted code and stress criteria.
Develop and maintain stress deliverables such as stress critical line lists, stress sketches, stress reports and stress sign-off/approval status for isometrics.
Evaluate static and dynamic effects as applicable (thermal expansion, wind/seismic, PSV reaction, vibration, surge/slug) and define mitigation actions through routing and support optimisation.
Define pipe support requirements and coordinate support philosophy with civil/structural; prepare/verify support loads, anchor/guide forces, nozzle loads and load transmittals.
Support resolution of stress-related technical queries, site issues and modifications with practical engineering judgement.
Piping Materials Engineering & Procurement Support (Strong Focus)
Prepare and/or review piping material specifications and line classes (PMS / Line Class Index) aligned with service conditions, corrosion/material selection inputs and applicable codes/standards.
Prepare and/or check datasheets and specifications for valves, flanges, fittings, bolting, gaskets and special piping items; manage technical clarifications and deviations.
Prepare and/or validate MTOs and material take-offs for procurement; ensure accuracy, completeness and change control.
Support procurement activities including Material Requisitions (MR), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), SDRL requirements and vendor document review/approval for piping-related items.
Interface with procurement and QA/QC to support material traceability, compliance, delivery forecasting, substitutions and site material queries.
Quality, Checking & Engineering Governance
Execute work in accordance with company procedures and engineering governance requirements; ensure required checks/back-checks and quality control steps are completed.
Review and comment on supplier and other discipline drawings/documents; ensure piping deliverables are technically correct and coordinated.
Identify scope deviations and support change management by providing technical inputs to impact assessments and variation documentation as required.
Construction, Commissioning & Field Support
Provide construction support including RFIs/field queries, drawing interpretation, and design modifications required during fabrication/installation.
