Airswift is searching for a seasoned Automation Technician to work on a long-term contract near Carlsbad, NM.

Summary: Primary responsibilities include PLC/HMI programming, instrumentation diagnostics, loop tuning, and system commissioning. You will act as the local subject-matter expert for control systems and automation troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), RTUs, and HMIs.
  • Calibrate and maintain level, pressure, flow, and vibration instrumentation.
  • Support the integrity of automation systems across well pads, batteries, SWD sites, and compressor stations.
  • Program and modify logic in Studio 5000 (Ladder, Function Block, Structured Text).
  • Configure and commission new installations using P&IDs, Cause & Effect matrices, and control narratives.
  • Design and maintain FactoryTalk View HMI screens and alarming systems.
  • Use SAP or other CMMS tools for work planning, documentation, and maintenance tracking.
  • Adhere to Management-of-Change (MOC) procedures and corporate programming standards.
  • Work safely around energized systems and in confined spaces.
  • Follow all OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and corporate safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Associate degree in Instrumentation, Automation, or related field OR GED with equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years as an Automation Specialist
  • 3+ years in oil & gas operations
  • Strong proficiency with Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View).
  • Knowledge of analog/discrete I/O, Ethernet/IP, and Modbus communications.
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and loop sheets.
