About the Role

This is a Perth-based, full-time role Monday through Friday on a 12-months’ contract for an EPC company servicing clients in the energy and oil and gas sector. 

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you’ll be expected to provide technical leadership and quality assurance across multiple electrical projects, overseeing design, resourcing, and standards compliance. Key responsibilities include managing deliverables, supporting tenders and clients, leading project execution, and coordinating across disciplines. Also involves mentoring teams and driving continuous improvement, with strong expertise in brownfield systems, HV equipment, control systems, and full project delivery

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical leadership, electrical design, and governance across projects
  2. Prepare/review tender estimates, deliverables, and engineering outputs
  3. Ensure quality, consistency, compliance, and conduct technical reviews/audits
  4. Plan and manage resources, including team capability, allocation, and hiring support
  5. Build client relationships, support business development, and resolve technical issues
  6. Lead project delivery: manage scope, schedule, coordination, and documentation
  7. Ensure safe, compliant designs and maintain HSE and risk management standards

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years’ experience in energy/chemicals, including project leadership
  • Strong recent experience in brownfield design and control/instrumentation systems
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects across full lifecycles
  • Solid knowledge of electrical standards; Hazardous Area certification desirable
  • Expertise in electrical design, protection systems, calculations, and technical documentation
  • Hands-on site experience including inspections, commissioning, and testing (FAT/SAT)
  • Strong leadership, organisation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
