Position Overview
This position offers the opportunity to provide senior-level mechanical engineering leadership across EPC projects, with a strong focus on rotating equipment, pressure vessels, and major mechanical systems. This opportunity is suited to a technically accomplished professional who can guide engineering design decisions, ensure compliance with recognised industry standards, and support delivery from concept through execution. The role is based in Englewood, Colorado and follows a 3-day hybrid schedule in the company’s office. Remote working is not available for this position.
Role Context
This company is a well-established provider of engineering, procurement and construction management services, supporting complex upstream and broader energy-related projects. The working environment is multidisciplinary and project-driven, requiring close coordination across process, piping, electrical and project management functions. This position sits within an EPC setting where technical quality, equipment reliability and practical delivery support are central to successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical engineering scope across EPC projects from concept through execution.
Design, specify and review rotating equipment, pressure vessels and other major mechanical equipment.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including ASME and API requirements.
Work closely with process engineering to interpret operating conditions and translate them into mechanical design requirements.
Interface effectively with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, process, piping, electrical and project management personnel.
Review vendor drawings, datasheets and technical bid documentation for technical accuracy and compliance.
Provide technical guidance, mentoring and quality oversight to engineering team members.
Support procurement, construction and commissioning activities as required.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and deliver practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) licence required in Colorado, with the ability to obtain licensure in additional states preferred.
15+ years of experience in an EPC or similar project-based environment.
Strong technical experience with rotating equipment and pressure vessels.
Solid understanding of process conditions such as pressure, temperature, flow and materials, and their influence on mechanical design.
Proven ability to work across disciplines and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience reviewing and approving engineering deliverables and vendor documentation.
Prior experience in Oil & Gas, or hydropower sectors is required.
