PROCESS ENGINEERING SPECIALIST (LNG, SRU, IR, UTILITIES & HELIUM?4)
Job Purpose
To advise and support Process Engineering–related activities during the EPC and Start?up phases through to handover to the permanent Asset, ensuring project deliverables meet Operations expectations in terms of Safety, Operability, Reliability, and Maintainability throughout the facility design lifecycle.
Reporting and Relationships
Reporting Line
- Reports to Head of Engineering
Internal Interfaces
- Regular interaction with Project Management Team (PMT) and Operations
- Periodic interaction with Engineering & Projects Group and HSEQ
External Interfaces
- Frequent engagement with Shareholder Subject Matter Experts
- Close coordination with EPC Contractors, vendors, suppliers, and engineering consultants
Job Context & Major Challenges
- Influence project decisions by balancing CAPEX and OPEX over the full asset lifecycle
- Ensure compliance with QG specifications, processes, and procedures
- Identify, assess, and mitigate new technology and process safety risks
- Provide operationally focused engineering input to support long?term reliability and availability
Key Responsibilities
- Advise and support process engineering activities during EPC, commissioning, start?up, and handover phases
- Actively participate in RCFA, HAZOP, HAZID, FRA, SIL verification, and other process safety and reliability studies
- Support the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new projects
- Develop and implement process surveillance tools in line with approved surveillance plans to ensure safe, reliable, and optimum production
- Perform process troubleshooting, provide engineering recommendations, and ensure timely escalation of threats or deviations
- Participate in System Completion processes, including walk?downs prior to commissioning and start?up (e.g. witnessing chemical / catalyst loading)
- Support and facilitate completion of project tie?in activities for systems within area of responsibility
Support high?risk commissioning activities for large?scale and complex projects by:
- Undertaking stringent system surveillance
- Tuning and optimizing process systems
- Providing advisory support to Operations and Maintenance teams
- Maintain an Issue Register to identify, track, and resolve critical issues, including new technology risks that may impact Reliability, Availability, and Cyber Security
- Provide technical input within area of expertise to other disciplines and functions as required to support overall business objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
Knowledge and / or Experience
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in an oil and gas environment
