Key Responsibilities
Ensure quality requirements for fabrication, construction, and installation activities are implemented in accordance with approved quality procedures, plans, and project documentation.
Ensure contractors, subcontractors, and vendors deploy competent resources, apply internationally accepted practices, and deliver products compliant with corporate and project quality requirements.
Participate in inspection, surveillance, and audit activities of contractors, subcontractors, vendors, manufacturers, suppliers, and third?party inspection and certification bodies, in line with approved project documents.
Review and verify project quality documentation such as Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, Work Procedures, and WPS/PQR documentation.
Verify personnel qualifications and calibration status of inspection equipment.
Attend material receiving inspections and review Material Test Certificates (MTCs).
Monitor site and fabrication yard welding activities to ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
Attend Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) mechanical testing and witness welder qualification tests, including evaluation of visual inspection and NDT results.
Witness and interpret daily NDT activities at site and fabrication yards, and assess inspection findings.
Attend dimensional control inspections, including laser survey inspections, where applicable.
Witness and approve Post?Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) activities.
Perform in?process inspections of offshore steel structures and topsides facilities at fabrication yards and verify conformity with project specifications, corporate standards, and applicable international codes.
Provide daily reporting to the QA/QC Coordinator or Engineer on contractor compliance with approved procedures and standards, and highlight any quality?related issues.
Review, comment on, and approve inspection and test records, quality dossiers, and material review board (MRB) documents.
Key Requirements
Minimum Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, or Metallurgy discipline, or equivalent.
Certified as an American Welding Society (AWS) SCWI, CSWIP 3.2 Certified Senior Welding Inspector, or approved equivalent.
ASNT Level II
certification in NDT (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT) for inspection against respective NDT methods.
Thorough knowledge of relevant international codes and standards, including AWS, API, ASME, ASNT, EN, DEP, and ISO, as required for execution of the work.
Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office and database management systems.
ISO 9001:2015 Internal or Lead Auditor certification
is an advantage.
Minimum 10 years of welding and NDT inspection experience, with at least 5 years post?certification, in the Oil & Gas industry, gained through international consultancy firms, third?party inspection/certification bodies, EPC/EPIC contractors, or operators on major projects.
Minimum 5 years of offshore project experience.
Hands?on experience in inspection and testing activities for major oil and gas projects, including offshore process platforms and jackets, covering all phases of manufacturing, fabrication, construction, and offshore installation.
Experience in inspection of structures, piping, offshore pipelines, materials, and multiple welding processes.
Familiarity with advanced NDT techniques including UT, AUT, and PAUT.
Experience with welding of carbon steels, stainless steels, duplex stainless steels (DSS), corrosion?resistant alloys (CRA), Inconel, Monel, CUNI piping, and weld overlay applications.
