Overview
The Execution Reliability Specialist (ERS) supports the Wells organization by safeguarding the integrity, compliance, and dependability of the materials, equipment, and services applied in drilling and completion activities. As part of the Wells Teams, the ERS concentrates on implementing quality?driven practices, risk?reduction measures, and local quality procedures to enable safe and effective well delivery. This position differs from a Quality Advisor by focusing specifically on execution reliability within teams, emphasizing service quality and tool performance at the operational front line.
Responsibilities
- Manage Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) efforts for Wells Teams, including inspections of drilling and completion equipment and service?related products before and after job execution.
- Create and maintain Wells Team–specific Quality Specifications that comply with global quality rules and expectations.
- Carry out capability and compliance reviews of drilling contractors and service partners as directed by the Operations Superintendent or Wells Manager.
- Develop, execute, and oversee the Wells Team Quality Plan in accordance with OIMS, including defining expectations and evaluating contractor and service provider KPIs.
- Review and supervise the creation and implementation of Service Quality Plans prepared by drilling contractors and service partners.
- Conduct quality audits of critical suppliers and service providers following API Q1, API Q2, DS?1, and the Wells Quality Manual.
- Perform pre?load?out checks for drilling and completion equipment, including:

- Examination of manufacturing and maintenance documentation
- Verification of equipment traceability
- Visual inspections
- Witnessing functional and pressure testing
- Lead and coordinate investigations of equipment and service failures through root cause analysis (RCA), identification of corrective actions, and reporting via Quality Event Reports (QER) in WellView.
- Communicate quality lessons learned and investigation findings to Wells Teams to encourage continuous improvement.
- Lead quarterly KPI reviews with major service providers, addressing operational performance, failures/incidents, and new technological or engineering developments.
- Deliver training for Wells Teams on quality expectations, procedures, and best practices as needed.
- Perform data analysis to assess vendor performance based on reliability and operational indicators.
- Support engineering, operations, and cost?efficiency initiatives by sharing insights on equipment reliability and performance.
- Contribute quality and reliability expertise during procurement and RFQ processes for vendor assessments.
- Collaborate with the ERS network to drive continuous improvement and share knowledge.
- Offer technical support to third?party inspectors when engaged.
- Provide guidance and best?practice recommendations regarding drill string connections, MUT, and equipment handling.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, such as API Q1, API Q2, and ISO 9001:2015.
- Familiarity with hydraulic and mechanical systems used in drilling and completion operations.
- Understanding of asset and equipment life?cycle management concepts.
- Experience with root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Knowledge of primary functions and common failure mechanisms of drilling and completion equipment.
- Awareness of non?destructive testing methods (e.g., liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, EMI).
- Understanding of manufacturing, machining, and maintenance workflows.
- Ability to perform basic data analysis, including pivot tables and performance trending in Excel.
- Preferred: operational or field experience supporting drilling, completion, or well execution operations.
