We are working with a Major Oil & Gas operator to source for Quality Lead (Vessel) specialising in offshore compression. This is a long-term contract role working offshore with rotation cycle of 28 days ON / 28 days OFF. Please see details below:

Title: Quality Lead (Vessel)

Start Date: Negotiable (typically within 1 month notice)

Duration: 36 months (potential for extension)

Location: Offshore, Qatar
Working Schedule: 28 days ON / 28 Days OFF

Job Purpose:

  • Responsible for implementing the project quality management program and ensuring the effective implementation of Contractor’s quality management system, during installation of jackets, topsides and pipeline installation scope for NFPS Compression Projects.
  • The Quality Lead (Vessel) is responsible to supervise the quality activities during execution with the objective to meet the overall project objectives.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s):

  • Supporting the project(s) for the offshore fabrication and installations scope.
  • Analyse data effectively and decide on which information is relevant to Project
  • Communication and influencing of various organizations acting globally in a multi-cultural environment, while offshore on DEHE vessel.
  • Manages the resolution of problems in more demanding and less familiar situations using precedent and own acquired knowledge.
  • Has high visibility to PMT Offshore T&I Team and EPC Contractor & Subcontractor. Recognizes that errors have significant impact on external parties.
  • Ensure there is quality, effectiveness and consistency during fabrication and installation processes while adhering to established fabrication processes and quality procedures
  • This role requires strong leadership and technical experience to drive the EPC Contractor and his local subcontractors to execute the offshore installation scope of work according to the quality requirements and implementation of lessons learned from past projects.
  • This is offshore vessel-based position on a 28-day x 28-day rotation schedule.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Direct Report to Head of Quality COMP2/3/5).
  • Implement the Project Quality Plan and ensure the effective implementation of Contractor’s Project Quality Management System and procedures at the Fabrication Yard to ensure that all project activities are compliant with project specifications, including:
  • Implement the Construction Surveillance Program to confirm that all fabrication & Installation activities are compliant with project specifications, including:
  • Reviewing and approving EPC Contractors and Subcontractors Inspection & Test Plans, quality control procedures and testing procedures
  • Implementing quality control over welding processes including monitoring of welding procedure qualifications, qualification of welders, control of welding consumables, surveillance of welding & NDE activity, monitoring welding KPIs and identifying corrective action to remedy poor performance
  • Attending regular meetings with Contractor and subcontractors to monitor progress and review and resolve quality issues arising
  • Managing inspection resources using Company approved Site Inspection Services (SIS) agencies to conduct surveillance inspections.
  • Conducting Flawless Quality training programs and Welding training programs in conjunction with Contractor to eliminate common defects
  • Conducting regular site walk-throughs with fabrication yard management team to highlight quality and safety issues and identify areas for improvement
  • Ensure that inspection records are maintained in a database that is aligned with completions management system to ensure a smooth handover to commissioning
  • Implement Deficiency & NCR Management processes to ensure that deficiencies and non-conformances relating to fabrication are identified, recorded, investigated and resolved to maintain compliance with project requirements

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in sciences or engineering

Additional quality, welding and NDE inspection related qualifications

Knowledge and/or Experience 

  • 12 years’ experience in offshore Oil & Gas Industry, including 1 year of experience in a supervisory role, including acting roles, or oversight
  • of service/vendor personnel. Experience shall be relevant to installation of offshore structures and pipelines.
  • Experience with Oil & Gas companies, Contractors, or Service Companies.
  • Experience in working in large-scale operating Organizations in Operations and projects
  • Knowledge of relevant Quality Systems, specifications and tools
  • Knowledge of Industry standards

Technical and Business Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to influence decisions using presentation, negotiation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to manage development and implementation of Quality Management Systems adapted to Oil & Gas industry
  • Ability to interact with project management team and Contractors confidently
  • Requires strong analytical, organisational and planning skills
