This company is seeking a Reinforced Concrete & Steel Structure Design Engineer to support the study and design of industrial structures within a technical engineering environment. The role requires strong capability in structural analysis, calculation notes, and coordination across design activities for industrial installations.
Role Context
This position sits within an industrial engineering setting focused on reinforced concrete and steel structure design for buildings and industrial structures. The Reinforced Concrete & Steel Structure Design Engineer will contribute to design work supporting industrial installations, including petrochemical and pharmaceutical environments.
About the Role
The Reinforced Concrete & Steel Structure Design Engineer will be responsible for producing and validating structural design deliverables, supporting sizing and execution phases, and ensuring calculations and design outputs align with the required standards and project requirements. This role also involves reviewing work prepared by others and supporting coordination with related project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare calculation notes for the preliminary sizing, sizing, and execution of foundation works, reinforced concrete structures, and metal frameworks supporting industrial installations.
- Establish the methodology for justifying the works and write basic data and descriptions of works.
- Validate modelling principles, including combinations of actions and weighting coefficients.
- Verify, comment on, and validate calculation notes prepared by other design centres, design subcontractors, suppliers, and construction companies.
- Verify the conformity of plans drawn up based on recommendations derived from dimensioning calculations.
- Write the design and/or calculation report for the structures.
- Monitor Engineering Changes to be passed on to construction companies and their subcontractors.
- Apply the methods and rules of study specific to the specialty and/or specific to the project.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in the study of petrochemical facilities on similar projects in the execution phase in France or Europe.
- Proven experience in the design and calculation of structures, as well as in monitoring construction companies.
- Experience in a detailed design office would be a significant asset.
- English, French.
- Ability to work in a team and integrate into a study group.
- Strong interpersonal skills with clients.
- Decision-making ability that considers all stakeholders.
- Familiarity with American codes would be an asset for involvement in other projects.
- AUTODESK Robot Structural Analysis.
- BENTLEY Staad Pro.
