We are currently looking for a Safety Coordinator – Temporary or Mobile Construction Sites (Level A or B) to support construction projects located in Wallonia.
The Safety Coordinator will act as an expert advisor and coordinator, ensuring that Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements are fully integrated throughout both the design and execution phases of projects, in compliance with Belgian legislation.
The role covers standard construction projects and requires close collaboration with internal project teams, contractors, and the Fluxys Prevention Advisor.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Coordination – Design Phase
- Ensure general prevention principles are applied during the design and study phases
- Prepare, monitor, and update the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Plan
- Identify critical project phases requiring on-site presence during execution
- Open, maintain, and transfer the coordination diary and post?intervention file
- Advise the contracting authority on the compliance of tender documents with the SHE Plan
Safety Coordination – Execution Phase
- Coordinate the implementation of prevention and safety measures during construction
- Ensure consistent application of the SHE Plan by all contractors
- Organize cooperation and coordination between contractors on site
- Control access to the construction site (authorized personnel only)
- Manage and update the coordination diary and post?intervention file
- Record non?compliances and report them to the contracting authority
- Organize legally required coordination meetings
- Monitor orderliness, cleanliness, waste management, and site circulation
- Ensure effective interfaces with operational sites when applicable
- Provide clear reporting supported by photographic evidence
Advisory & Support Role
- Act as a subject?matter expert advising project teams on legal safety obligations
- Support the Fluxys Prevention Advisor
- Review safety procedures, emergency measures, work methods, and risk analyses
- Contribute to safety aspects of technical documents, tender documents, and purchase orders
- Participate in meetings, inspections, and site walkthroughs
- Contribute to annual feedback meetings and lessons learned reviews
Profile Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Certified Safety Coordinator Level A or B (Design & Execution), compliant with the Belgian Royal Decree of 25 January 2001
- Minimum 5 years of experience in similar construction or infrastructure projects
- Ability to provide references and examples of coordination documentation
- Degree as Industrial Engineer or Civil Engineer (Construction) is an advantage
- Safety Level 1 or Level 2 training is a strong asset
- Professional liability insurance (civil liability / BA insurance) required
