Safety Technician

Supporting helicopter landing and take-off operations in a demanding marine environment, with a strong focus on helideck safety, passenger protection, and operational readiness.

Role Context

This position is based in an offshore setting where safe helicopter operations are essential to daily activity. The Safety Technician will work within a structured environment that requires close attention to safety standards, communication, and emergency response.

About the Role

The Safety Technician is responsible for helping maintain safe and efficient helideck operations by supporting aircraft movements, monitoring safety conditions, and responding appropriately to operational or emergency situations. The role contributes directly to the safety of passengers, crew, and site operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate helicopter landing and take-off operations on the helideck.
  • Ensure the helideck is free of obstacles and maintained in a safe condition for operations.
  • Ensure passengers and crew are aware of safety procedures.
  • Verify the proper use of safety equipment, including life jackets and helmets.
  • Maintain constant communication with the flight crew and provide weather conditions and other relevant information.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the helideck to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinate necessary maintenance and repairs to the helideck.
  • Respond to emergencies such as fires or accidents in line with established emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate evacuations and provide first aid, if necessary.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Intermediate English.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the Construction Industry.
  • Experience in helicopter operations, especially in offshore environments.
  • Offshore experience (Construction/Subsea Installations) desirable.

Mandatory Certifications

  • Training in Occupational Safety Technician with corresponding registration with the MTE.
  • Training in HLO (ALPH).
  • MCIA.
  • CBSP/HUET.
  • First aid training.
  • certificates of Marinha
  • HLO/HSES Tec
  • AVSEC for inspection of dangerous cargo in baggage
