Senior Buyer - Perth CBD based

12 months casual contract

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join our Perth team and contribute to a global organisation of nearly 50,000 people, all driven by one purpose, delivering a more sustainable world. In this role, you will lead purchasing and contract management activities across complex resources projects. You’ll bring strong commercial acumen, deep technical understanding, and the ability to negotiate, influence and build solid supplier relationships. This position plays a key part in driving cost optimisation, managing supply?chain risk, and ensuring procurement strategies align with organisational objectives.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement procurement and contracts strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Identify cost?saving opportunities and efficiency improvements
  • Analyse market trends and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly
  • Research, assess and qualify potential suppliers
  • Evaluate supplier capability, quality and reliability
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions to maximise value
  • Conduct competitor analysis and benchmark best practices
  • Apply industry?specific knowledge to support informed decision?making
  • Identify and evaluate procurement?related risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Collaborate with Head Office and cross?functional teams to align strategies
  • Support corporate initiatives and participate in cross?functional projects
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulations
  • Maintain documentation and audit?ready records
  • Implement internal policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement across procurement processes
  • Work with minimal supervision, managing varied and complex tasks
  • Provide technical guidance and coordinate activities for small project teams

What You’ll Bring

  • University degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and present ideas effectively
  • Deep understanding of procurement systems, processes and tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and support others in the team
  • Proven capability in complex procurement and contract environments
  • Experience working autonomously with sound judgement and commercial insight
