Senior Contracts Adviser – Australian Operations Logistics (Subsea IMR)

About the Role
Our oil and gas client is seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Adviser to join their Australian Operations Logistics team, supporting the Subsea & Pipelines Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) category. Based in Perth, this role plays a key part in driving commercial outcomes, managing risk, and ensuring alignment with governance and business objectives across the full contracting lifecycle.
You will lead both pre? and post?award contracting activities, influence key stakeholders, and deliver high?value commercial strategies that support the client’s operating assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end?to?end contracting activities from strategy development through to execution and close?out
- Develop Category Strategies and sourcing plans aligned with business needs
- Prepare and manage ITTs/RFQs, evaluation plans, negotiation plans, and approval documentation
- Ensure all contracts, purchase orders, and call?offs comply with internal governance and procedures
- Identify opportunities for commercial value creation and cost optimisation
- Lead complex supplier negotiations and ensure risk?appropriate commercial structures
- Support development of business cases for key commercial decisions
- Act as the primary commercial interface for internal stakeholders
- Provide credible commercial advice to influence decision?making
- Partner with Legal, Finance, Tax, HSE and other functions to ensure integrated outcomes
- Support cross?functional alignment during sourcing and contracting activities
- Flexibly assist with other categories or portfolios as business demand requires
Skills & Experience
We are seeking candidates with some or all of the following:
- Degree in Business, Commerce or Law
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in legal, category management, or contracts advisory roles
- Strong understanding of energy industry contracts, including knock?for?knock indemnities, liability frameworks, IP and confidentiality
- Ability to draft first?pass responses to contractor clarifications and work closely with Legal
- Experience across the full tender lifecycle, particularly strategy and pre?award
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Proven negotiation capability
- Demonstrated stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Ability to make sound decisions in environments with uncertainty and competing priorities
- A resilient, flexible, and proactive approach suited to demanding project environments
