ENVIRONMENT ENGINEER
Qualifications: (mandatory)
- B.Sc. in a relevant Engineering discipline from a recognized university; a higher degree in Environmental Engineering and/or Project Management is advantageous.
- IRCA-approved and registered Lead Auditor for ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems.
- Membership/certification from a recognized professional engineering or HSE institution.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office and relevant software).
- Excellent command of English (verbal and written).
Experience:
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in environmental engineering within the Oil & Gas industry (Operator, Contractor, or Consultant), preferably in offshore greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Proven experience managing and coordinating environmental interfaces with third parties and regulatory authorities.
- Strong background in HSE/environmental studies including HAZID, EIA, ENVID, and environmental modelling/dispersion studies.
- Experience as Lead Auditor for critical audits, including maintaining records, lessons learned, and root cause analysis.
- Sound analytical and troubleshooting capabilities in environmental engineering.
- Familiarity with international HSE/environmental regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
- Experience developing and reviewing:
- Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP)
- Waste Management Plans (WMP)
- Oil Spill Prevention and Response Plans
- Knowledge of environmental impacts across project lifecycle stages (drilling, construction, installation, commissioning, operations, and decommissioning).
- Experience assessing environmental risks related to decommissioning and offshore facility abandonment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide environmental engineering support for offshore greenfield and brownfield projects, covering design, fabrication, construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Ensure all project activities comply with applicable environmental laws, regulations, corporate standards, and industry best practices.
- Support detailed engineering, EPIC execution, and project completion/handover activities.
- Define environmental requirements across all project phases (FEED and execution), including development of Scope of Work (SOW) and participation in contractor evaluations.
- Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and support overall HSE strategy.
- Review and endorse environmental studies, reports, and technical deliverables (EIA, ENVID, modelling studies, etc.).
- Establish and monitor environmental KPIs aligned with corporate objectives.
- Support development of project execution and HSE plans, including review of technical documentation.
- Participate in environmental risk assessments (ENVID) and maintain Environmental Risk Registers.
- Provide oversight of contractors during project execution to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual environmental requirements.
- Support maintenance of ISO 14001:2015 certification and continuous improvement of environmental systems.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies for environmental permits and approvals.
- Support workforce development initiatives, including training and mentoring of local talent.
