Position: Senior Finance Partner
Purpose:
Senior Finance Partners act as the main strategic link between Finance and business units. Embedded within the Leadership Teams they support, they provide financial governance, data?driven insights, and broad business advice not limited to finance. They contribute to strategic, operational, risk, governance, and resource?management discussions, helping drive key business outcomes and address complex challenges.
Key Results Area (KRAs) or Key Deliverables
- Co-pilot to the business unit leadership team through providing leadership and strategic advice on all issues, not just financial.
- Constructively analyzing and challenging business unit decisions, ensuring that they not only work for the business unit, but also align with the enterprise objectives.
- A thought leader in delivery of the company's objectives, provide a catalyst for change. This includes working with Data & Analytics team to leverage the appropriate Finance resources to develop forward looking information to support forward thinking decision making.
- Influence senior stakeholders to achieve the best outcome for the company, even where stakeholder interests do not naturally align.
- Research and maintain a detailed understanding of external best practice and changes in legislation/policy and financial management approaches and methodologies, for Finance but also relevant to the business units you support.
- Lead and continually improve processes within the team (and across the business).
- Safeguard the company through delivering training, personal behaviors and interactions to promote an environment where business units consistently get the basics right on financial management.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate risk management policies and procedures and maintenance of robust internal control environment.
- As a leader in the company with access to all levels across the bank, role model company's behaviors and take an active role in delivering finance messages, coaching, performance management, identification of training and development needs etc.
- Provide professional and ethical behaviour in your actions by ensuring compliance with external legislation, bank standards and internal operating policies and procedures relevant to the position.
- Provide management insight using management reporting and knowledge of the business.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Bachelors (or higher) Degree or higher in Business, Accounting, or Economics from a recognized tertiary institution
- Professional certification with CPA PNG or equivalent international certification
- Depth and breadth of experience of leading in large scale business change processes relating to financial and business strategy.
Desirable:
- Exposure to the issues and challenges in the banking industry.
- Time spent in the business, hands on commercial experience.
- At least 6 years management or financial accounting experience in the financial services industry or the profession, or 8 years senior accounting experience in another industry
