Summary:
Play an integral role in leading planning and scheduling activities for structural turnaround projects, ensuring alignment between construction execution, resource planning, and operational objectives. You will develop and maintain integrated schedules that reflect project scope, constraints, and risks—enabling proactive decision-making and optimized performance during critical path, time-sensitive TAR events.
Responsibilities:
You will drive planning excellence across turnaround execution, ensuring schedules are accurate, responsive, and aligned with project priorities. Key accountabilities include:
- Developing detailed structural TAR schedules for project proposals and execution phases, ensuring logic, sequencing, and constructability are fit for purpose
- Maintaining schedules on a real-time basis, ensuring alignment with field progress, evolving scope, and turnaround constraints
- Ensuring compatibility and integration of supporting schedules across engineering, procurement, and construction activities
- Supporting shutdown and turnaround planning, including critical path development, resource loading, and sequencing for structural scopes
- Collaborating closely with construction, project controls, and site teams to improve planning accuracy and execution performance
- Preparing and presenting schedule reports, forecasts, and performance updates for project leadership and stakeholders
- Identifying risks, constraints, and opportunities within the project schedule, and supporting mitigation and recovery planning
- Leading or guiding schedulers and planning resources, assigning work, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring adherence to standards
- Supporting continuous improvement in planning processes, systems, and tools to enhance turnaround efficiency
- Participating in cross-functional collaboration to ensure schedules reflect site realities, operational constraints, and execution strategies
Requirements:
- A degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline—or equivalent relevant experience
- Typically 7+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling within industrial, construction, or turnaround environments
- Demonstrated experience supporting structural TAR (turnaround) projects, including shutdown scheduling, sequencing, and execution planning
- Strong understanding of scheduling methodologies, including critical path analysis, resource loading, and progress measurement
- Experience working in multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environments, coordinating across engineering, construction, and project controls teams
- Proven ability to lead planning efforts, guide teams, and influence stakeholders through technical expertise and clear communication
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights to support project performance
- Experience preparing reports, presentations, and executive-level communications on complex scheduling matters
- Ability to lead functional project teams and mentor junior planners and schedulers
- Strong understanding of planning systems, processes, and tools, with the ability to troubleshoot and improve scheduling performance
- A structured, detail-oriented approach with the ability to perform under tight timelines typical of turnaround execution.
