Position: Senior Telecommunications Engineer

Position Overview
The Senior Telecommunications Engineer will act as the Lead Telecommunications Engineer on assigned design engineering and EPC projects. This role oversees all technical, engineering, and scheduling activities related to the discipline, ensuring alignment with project objectives, industry standards, and client expectations. The engineer will work with minimal supervision and may provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers. Periodic reviews will be conducted by the Chief Telecommunications Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Leadership
- Lead and coordinate all telecommunications engineering activities on assigned projects.
- Prepare and review discipline-specific job specifications, design documents, calculations, and deliverables.
- Ensure all telecommunications design work complies with industry standards, client specifications, and best engineering practices.
- Conduct technical reviews, verify design accuracy, and resolve discipline-related engineering issues.
Oversee and validate telecommunication systems including, but not limited to:
- CCTV & Security Systems
- Fiber Optic Networks
- Radio Systems
- PAGA/PA Systems
- Structured Cabling
- Networking & Communication Infrastructure
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Prepare and review requisitions for inquiry and procurement of complex telecom equipment and materials.
- Support vendor selection through technical bid evaluations and procurement collaboration.
- Participate in vendor meetings and conduct or witness factory acceptance tests (FATs) when required.
Project Management & Coordination
- Develop engineering plans, schedules, and resource allocations for telecommunications work scope.
- Lead weekly project meetings and provide updates on technical issues and progress.
- Coordinate effectively with cross-disciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders.
- Prepare engineering progress reports, CTR estimates, and contribute to proposal development.
Client & Site Support
- Serve as the primary liaison with client representatives for telecommunications matters.
- Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and issue-resolution meetings.
- Support commissioning, installation, and site activities through short-term or extended site assignments.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of telecommunications engineering experience in the oil & gas industry.
- Demonstrated expertise with telecommunications standards, codes, and industry practices.
- Proficient in engineering software and digital tools used in telecom design and documentation.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering.
- EIT or PE Certification is preferred.
Licenses
- MME/MMUP/UPDA Qatar Engineering License required or in progress.
