Position Overview
The Site Construction Quality Lead will be responsible for implementing, supervising, and maintaining the Construction Quality Plan throughout all phases of one major Project in Wessling, Germany. This role ensures that all construction activities meet contract quality requirements, comply with regulations, and adhere to project-specific procedures. The successful candidate will provide leadership in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC), coordinate inspection activities, and interface closely with contractors, internal project teams, and LYB QA representatives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, and oversee the Construction Quality Plan during the entirety of the construction phase.
- Prepare project-specific quality procedures and documentation as required.
- Ensure compliance with all contract quality requirements; identify non-conformities and monitor corrective actions through to completion.
- Review, analyse, and propose resolutions for non-conforming materials or items.
- Review and approve Contractor Quality Procedures and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), or delegate review responsibilities where appropriate.
- Implement and coordinate specialised quality procedures, including corrective action systems, surveillance, and maintenance processes.
- Support the selection, training, development, and supervision of Quality Inspection personnel.
- Produce required Quality reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist Construction teams in developing, communicating, and monitoring Quality priorities.
- Participate actively in project safety processes and initiatives.
- Coordinate inspection and testing groups across the project.
- Serve as the primary liaison with LYB QA representatives.
- Monitor quality of procured materials and components.
- Review, verify, and maintain permanent quality records.
- Approve inspection and test packages for all systems.
- Oversee the assembly and accuracy of QA/QC documentation for turnover packages.
- Supervise and direct Third-Party Inspection (TPI) contracts.
- Provide necessary quality data for monthly and final project reports.
- Review contractor quality deliverables submitted after contract award and prior to construction commencement (including PQP, QA/QC procedures, ITPs, and inspection record templates).
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working in QA roles within new construction projects in Germany.
- Fluency in both German and English.
- Minimum 15 years of Quality Management experience.
- Strong background in implementing, auditing, analysing, and improving Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proactive mindset with strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills
Practical knowledge and experience in:
- National and international manufacturing codes and specifications.
- Destructive and non-destructive testing (DT/NDT) methods.
- Manufacturing techniques and production processes.
- QA/QC specifications, systems, standards, and best practices.
- ISO 9001:2015 Lead Assessor certification (highly desirable).
