SR. QA/QC ENGINEER (Solar Project)
Title: Sr. QA/QC Engineer
Duration: 36 months (potential for extension)
Location: Doha HQ with site visits
Working Schedule: 5-days per week / 8-9 hours per day
Qualification:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls Engineering or related field) or higher educational qualification in engineering from internationally recognized Universities.
• IRCA Certified QMS Lead Auditor Certification or similar.
• ASNT Level-II Certifications in RT/MT/PT/UT is a plus.
• Professional certification / affiliation with internationally recognized Quality organizations like CQI or ASQ or similar is desirable.
Experience:
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience (Minimum of five (5) years lead experience) in Oil & Gas Industry as part of an internationally recognized EPIC contractor or end user/owner organization, covering large-scale solar projects or similar nature projects.
• Extensive experience in large scale solar (Photovoltaic) construction projects and strong background in quality management systems.
• Brownfield experience is a plus.
• Hands on working experience in major EPIC projects with involvement in all phases of E- P-I-C from working level to independently managing / Heading QA/QC function, with technical expertise in a core discipline.
• Working knowledge in the manufacturing, inspection, and certification processes for equipment/ materials in projects and the associated Quality Assurance and Quality Control practices.
• Working from corporate offices with functional responsibility for simultaneous coordination / working / managing multiple projects is desirable.
• Working knowledge of using and interpreting Shell DEPs, International Codes / Standards (IEC, NEC, ASME, ASTM, NACE, AWS, API, BS, ISO and Local Regulations) related to the job and industry.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multi-disciplinary QA/QC teams, ensuring Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and procedures are implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide guidance on ISO 9001 QMS requirements, documentation, and certification processes.
- Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., IEC, UL, NFPA) and contractual requirements.
- Act as focal point for internal and external QMS audits; coordinate audit planning and execution with project teams and contractors.
- Promote continuous improvement and deliver quality training for site personnel and subcontractors.
- Support incident investigations and root cause analysis for quality-related issues.
- Develop and manage QMS documentation and ensure compliance across all project phases.
- Prepare Project Quality Plans (PQP) and KPIs, ensuring alignment with contractor deliverables and organizational objectives.
- Monitor and report QMS performance on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Participate in prequalification and evaluation of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
- Support technical bid evaluations to ensure quality requirements are clearly addressed.
- Review Scope of Work (SOW) and Scope of Services (SOS) to ensure QA/QC and technical requirements are fully incorporated.
- Review and approve contractor/vendor QA/QC deliverables across engineering, procurement, and construction phases, including welding and testing procedures.
- Address technical queries and deviations related to welding and NDT.
- Ensure QA/QC compliance in engineering and construction deliverables, coordinating with discipline specialists on materials, corrosion, and special processes.
- Implement and oversee deviation and non-conformance control systems, ensuring proper closure of NCRs and CARs.
- Oversee construction quality through site inspections, contractor meetings, and monitoring QA/QC personnel performance.
