Supply Chain Expediter

Join our dynamic team as a Supply Chain Expediter and play a pivotal role in the execution of one of the largest transnational infrastructure projects in East Africa. You will be at the forefront of ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment for a major oil and gas pipeline project, contributing to sustainable energy solutions in the region.

Role Overview

  • Monitor progress of all purchase orders and long lead items to ensure timely delivery.

  • Maintain structured follow-up with suppliers on production status, documentation, inspections, and shipment readiness.

  • Identify delays or constraints early and escalate to project controls, procurement, and technical teams.

  • Use mechanical engineering knowledge to understand fabrication stages for instruments, valves, piping systems, static and rotating equipment, skids, and mechanical packages.

  • Support clarification of technical queries from suppliers in coordination with engineering teams.

  • Validate vendor progress reports against actual manufacturing status.

  • Ensure all vendor documentation is submitted in line with the project document schedule (drawings, manuals, ITPs, inspection records, MDRs).

  • Ensure EPS Contractor maintains up-to-date expediting logs and dashboards in the EPS systems.

  • Prepare weekly progress reports, highlighting risks and recommended mitigation actions.

  • Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure shipment plans, export documentation, and compliance with project requirements.

  • Confirm inspection hold points, FAT schedules, release notes, and readiness for shipment.

  • Track material from vendor to delivery at site or warehouse, ensuring compliance with preservation and packing standards.

  • Interface with engineering, QA/QC, procurement, project controls, and site teams to maintain alignment on delivery priorities.

  • Support planners with updates on material readiness and forecasted delivery dates.

  • Participate in supplier performance reviews and progress meetings as required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Seller Expediting

  • Buyer Expediting

  • Materials & Equipment Management

  • Mechanical Engineering Knowledge

  • Understanding of Mechanical Packaged Equipment

  • Ability to Interpret Engineering Drawings, Schematics, and Specifications

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

  • Strong Communication Skills

  • Risk Management Skills

  • Supplier Performance Management

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).

  • 10 years expediting experience, ideally within a major operator or Tier 1 EPC supporting oil & gas projects.
