We are seeking a skilled Telecommunication Engineer to manage communication equipment and systems maintenance across various sites in the oil and gas industry, ensuring seamless connectivity and operational efficiency.
Role Overview
- Execute Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), and major maintenance activities on telecommunication systems.
- Perform modifications to correct deviations in telecommunication systems.
- Provide engineering solutions for wireless telephony, radio, satellite communications, and broadband technologies.
- Contribute to the development of new telecommunication systems and maintenance standards.
- Ensure compliance with industry safety, reliability standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct diagnostics to investigate hardware and software issues.
- Maintain inventory of communication system spare parts for emergency repairs.
- Establish telecom system recovery procedures and conduct regular tests.
- Analyze communication networks for reliability and signal quality.
- Prepare frequency coordination forms and license applications for local regulatory authorities.
- Monitor telecommunications systems for updates, upgrades, and preventive maintenance needs.
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, and hubs for the telecommunication network.
- Prepare RFQs and evaluate bids for new products and services.
- Liaise with telecommunication vendors to maintain critical systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety rules and best industrial practices during maintenance activities.
- Assist in preparing departmental budgets and maintenance reports.
- Manage subcontractors for telecom systems maintenance.
Skills & Qualifications
- Telecommunication Expertise: Strong knowledge of marine radios, fiber optic networks, CCTV, PABX, LAN/WAN, and other telecom systems.
- CMMS Knowledge: Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to diagnose hardware/software issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of local telecommunications regulations and safety standards.
- Communication Skills: Proficient in oral and written English.
Education & Experience
- Academic Qualifications: BSc. Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Computer Science & ICT or equivalent.
- Experience Required: Minimum 10 years in the Oil & Gas industry or Telecom as a Telecommunication Engineer.
