Test Engineer

The Test Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution and analysis of experimental tests. The tests are performed to check products’ quality and performance, compared to technical specifications applied.

He/She covers his/her scope of work and promotes team work with the whole team of experts who are also involved in the systems development, sub-sytems, and/or technological bricks that are tested or whose performance need to be proven in specific sessions called “demonstration sessions”.  

Scope of work:


The test engineer will:

  • Write tests plans

  • Write tests protocoles by keeping normative rules/prescriptions in mind, if applicable.

  • Plan tasks to be performed in preparation phases and during tests.

  • Allocate roles to colleagues/team members also working on the development

  • Take part in data post-processing, write tests reports and send/publish reports to the team/people involved.

  • Ensure raw and processed data along with associated reports are archived.

  • Monitor his/her and everyone’s safety

  • Prepare Tests Readiness Reviews (TRR) (tests campaigns and/or demonstrations)

  • Organise TRR before tests/demonstrations, and invite various stakeholders.

  • Define instrumentation which matches physical values to be measured, considering tests conditions and/or demonstration sessions des tests, mainly for vibration measurements.

  • Ensure proper maintenance of testing equipment (sensors, recording rack, cameras, and others).

  • Store and label the testing equipment in the cabinets designated for this purpose.

  • Ensure that the calibration of instrumentation chains is kept up to date.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the “Special Tests and Measurements” service.

  • Take part in Design Reviews to provide input on the testability and accessibility of subsystems.

Required Qualifications

  • Hold an Engineering Degree or equivalent (testing, instrumentation, electromechanics, electronics, or related fields).

  • Have experience in a similar role.

  • Knowledge of instrumentation, signal processing, and data processing.

  • Experience with equipment tests (vibration, thermal, strain gauges, pressure, etc.).

  • Knowledge of special measurements (vibratory, strain measurements, etc.).

  • Experience in radar measurements and acoustic measurements is a plus.

  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Place great importance on personal and others’ safety.

  • Willing to travel for the organization and execution of tests. Travel frequency varies between 3 and 5 times per year, with each trip lasting between 3 to 15 days.

  • Knowledge of standards and norms governing test procedures. Knowledge of military standards, particularly MIL?STD?810, is a plus.

  • Proficient in English, at least at a technical level.

  • Working proficiency in French

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Context

  • Development of systems in the Defence sector.

  • Depending on the situation and needs, instrumentation and data collection may take place either in workshops or on military firing ranges located in various countries.
