Our client, a major operator company, is looking for an Umbilical’s Engineer (Subsea) to work on an initial 12-month contract in Spring, TX area
The Umbilical’s Engineer Specialist III is responsible for providing engineering oversight of the Umbilical and Interface engineering scope during the Execute Stage of Projects. This role supports detailed design and follow-on engineering activities and works under the oversight of a Senior Umbilical Engineer, with daily direction from a Project Execution Engineer.
The position ensures that umbilical designs, analyses, ancillary components, and interfaces with other project contractors meet Company specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. In addition to strong technical expertise, the role requires effective communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills to support successful project delivery in a fast-paced execution environment.
The role requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally (US, EU, UK, China, and Singapore).
Responsibilities
Perform technical reviews of umbilical system designs to confirm safe design and quality construction throughout project phases, ensuring operations remain within the safe operating envelope during the operate phase.
Provide oversight of umbilical analysis, ancillary components, and associated interface management with executing project contractors.
Manage and support umbilical engineering interfaces with the Host Facility, Subsea Hardware Contractor, and Installation Contractor.
Review, assess, and support the implementation of engineering changes.
Evaluate and comment on umbilical engineering work performed internally and by contractors and sub-contractors to ensure compliance with company standards, industry codes, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Review and provide technical comments on umbilical engineering documentation related to the project scope.
Support Umbilical Execution Leads and Managers in delivering all umbilical-related activities for the project.
Ensure timely delivery of umbilical engineering information management deliverables, including design and as-built documentation.
Track deviations, process technical queries, and issue technical memoranda as required.
Facilitate effective execution of engineering and design routines aligned with team goals, objectives, and procedures.
Ensure accurate and timely communication across project teams and external contractors.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Ocean, Mechanical, Civil, or Petroleum Engineering, with relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.
Working knowledge of umbilical discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and applicable safety criteria.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to function effectively as part of an integrated project team.
Proven ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequently changing priorities.
Fluency in spoken and written English, particularly for technical and business communication.
Willingness and ability to travel internationally (US, EU, UK, China, Singapore).
