About the Role
We are seeking a detail?oriented Lab Technician to support testing and analytical operations focused on refining catalysts and hydrocarbon feedstocks/products. This individual will work under the guidance of senior team members, researchers, and engineers while performing hands?on lab and bench?scale testing in a dynamic R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute laboratory tasks for catalyst and hydrocarbon product testing while following established procedures and safety standards.
• Handle product collection, blending, storage, and inspection sample submissions for BSU or PTU testing units, including work with hazardous chemicals.
• Operate analytical equipment to collect feed and product characterization data and prepare summary reports with strict adherence to SOPs and QA/QC principles.
• Support the operation of complex bench?scale units running at elevated temperatures and pressures (up to 500°F and 1000 psig), including monitoring and documentation of unit status.
• Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on laboratory analytical and testing systems.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in the lab environment with minimal supervision.
• Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and cross?functional partners.
• Follow all Operational Excellence expectations, safety requirements, and project deliverable metrics.
• Accurately document work processes and results to ensure proper protection of intellectual property.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• Hands?on laboratory work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to safely handle chemicals and glassware and operate analytical or testing equipment.
• Working knowledge of experimental monitoring, data recording, lab equipment upkeep, and troubleshooting methods.
• Strong understanding of safety practices related to hazardous chemicals and high?pressure/high?temperature units.
• Commitment to delivering high?quality results and maintaining strong lab and documentation standards.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience operating testing units at high temperatures and pressures (approximately 500°F and 1000 psig).
• Mechanical aptitude for assembling piping and test equipment.
• Familiarity with MS Office and instrumentation or process control software.
