Airswift is searching for a Lab Technician to work on a 12+ months contract near Covington, LA.
Summary
The main function of a lab technician is to perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. A typical lab technician may work under the supervision of a medical technologist.
Responsibilities
• Login samples to LIMS and communicate with customers to determine work requests.
• Maintain updated SDS, chemical inventory, and monthly updated print outs.
• Provide analytical support across all sections of the tech center including:
o Perform solid sample extractions, filtering, and TSS / Sieve analysis.
o Prepare crude oil samples for analysis and long-term storage.
o Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate multiple pieces of equipment as necessary to conduct experiments (e.g., SEM-EDS, XRD, GC-FID, FT-IR, Viscometer, etc.)
• Perform routine lab maintenance (e.g., glassware washing, changing compressed gas cylinders, safety inspections, and prepare sample kits)
Qualifications / Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, or other related scientific discipline.
• 1-3+ years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Willing and able to work safely with hazardous samples and chemicals.
• Detailed mindset and excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects independently.
• Strong analytical background and interpretation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment acknowledging and supporting different working styles and personalities.
• Aptitude in oral/written communication and interpersonal communication skills to effectively relate with a variety of customers and communication styles.
Desired:
• Ability to assess the root cause of the material/component performance, behavior, and/or failure based on structural and chemical data determined by various analytical methods.
• Experienced in contributing to the development and/or revision of operating procedures for lab instruments and methods.
• Demonstrated commitment to performance improvement within own sphere of influence.
• Experience with quality assurance and quality management systems.
• Proficient at coding or software aptitude to help with facilitating data organization, interpretation, and visualization.
• Packaging and shipping certifications.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in medical technology or vocational training preferred. 0-2 years experience required.
