Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Well Management Engineer (RTP & Plug & Abandonment) to support post-completion wellwork operations. This role is responsible for designing, planning, and executing well interventions, including remedial workovers and P&A activities, while collaborating across engineering, operations, and contractor teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and support execution of wellwork operations post-completion, including remedial workovers and plug & abandonment (P&A)
- Collaborate with Production Engineering to develop cost estimates and scope for opportunity evaluations
- Develop procedures and provide design input for artificial lift systems
- Coordinate with Operations teams for rig scheduling, execution support, and troubleshooting
- Engage with contractors and suppliers to ensure cost efficiency and equipment readiness
- Monitor daily wellwork progress, track costs, and recommend cost-effective adjustments
- Travel to field locations as needed to oversee operations
- Support budgeting and forecasting of wellwork expenditures
- Analyze performance metrics to improve execution efficiency
- Manage contractor performance and ensure accuracy of Wellview data
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum 5 years of Oil & Gas experience, including:
- At least 3 years of direct wellwork experience (Permian Basin preferred)
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Willingness to travel to field locations as needed
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Wellview
- Experience with Spotfire, Power BI, or similar analytics tools is preferred
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience working for an operator (e.g., PNR, EOG, OXY, Diamondback, Endeavor, Permian) strongly preferred over service company background
- Hands-on expertise in:
- Workover operations
- Completions
- Plug & Abandonment (P&A)
- Candidates with backgrounds primarily in drilling or fracturing are less aligned with this role
