Well Performance Engineer
Start Date: August 2026
Duration: 1 year renewable contract
Location: Luanda, Angola (residential)
Position Overview
This position supports a major upstream project, offering an opportunity for a technical specialist to be embedded within a multi-disciplinary project group. The role is accountable for all aspects of well performance, including monitoring, optimization, and coordination of well start-up procedures, operating in a deep offshore environment. The successful candidate will contribute to production targets, well surveillance, and the deployment of technical solutions, ensuring safe and optimized hydrocarbon production.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement tools for well monitoring and analysis, including Digital Oilfield (DOF), GAP, and PROSPER.
- Validate and update well/network models using current well tests, PVT, reservoir, and field data.
- Support the design, execution, and follow-up of well performance during start-up, clean-up, and ramp-up phases.
- Participate in the definition and optimization of annual production commitments and follow ramp-up results, advising on corrective actions when deviations are encountered.
- Collaborate with Reservoir and Drilling & Completion teams to define production/injection objectives, and support site teams to meet targets.
- Ensure day-to-day well surveillance and production diagnostics, proposing corrective actions as required.
- Coordinate well testing programs and ensure timely validation, processing, and archiving of test results.
- Coach and support junior Well Performance Engineers as required.
- Promote and demonstrate exemplary behavior regarding HSSE rules, and contribute actively to HSE culture development.
- Assist in the implementation of environmental management and energy efficiency processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in well performance roles on operated oil and gas assets, preferably involving deep offshore projects/fields.
- Previous involvement with well and network modeling tools (such as GAP, PROSPER) and integrated asset modeling is needed.
- Experience with subsea wells, deepwater production, multiphase flow, and production chemistry is highly desirable.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
